Will Campbell Watch

He is very good against bad to average defenses. He is not good vs great defenses without Tom Brady. And that's a huge problem.
From what i remember he use to be more creative in the past. But we have to also remember by the time he became OC brady had been in the nfl for years. Maye played six games as a rookie, this was his first full year, Brady had a lot mor experience 'seasoning'

He will have a full offseason and time to recover. I do still think we get another guy in the draft. We can’t just not do anything in the offseason to address this. I do want us to out and get a stud WR and a TE. Pass rusher is also important.
OL, WR, TE, and Edge.

And Morgan Moses got abused considerably.

But all the Will Campbell haters are jumping on the chance to kick him when he’s down, even though the entire O Line played like dogfood.

Doug Marrone is the real question mark after this turd in the punchbowl. The entire OL was poorly prepared and outplayed all night. Only guy I did not see abused frequently was Big Mike, and that may have been just because it was so much easier to attack everywhere else on the line they could just go around him.

I also think Drake was over his head, not able to read the rushers and adjust protection. He was also playing slow and scared. None of that did his OL any favors.
Agree. Maye looked tense pregame, a natural thing, and I thought he would loosen up. It didn't happen. I just think it was a long season for him that really wore on him once he got into the playoffs. Hopefully, he's not psychologically damaged. He did say in the presser that he had shot up the shoulder and there wasn't much feeling in it. Not sure if that's an impediment, seems like it might have been. In the end, lousy OL play, QB tentative, other team was better. While we did hit on some rookies, we may want to rethink how Wolfe did at the top of the draft.

I'm more concerned about Wilson to be honest, and his bad play recently might have affected Will Campbell to some degree, felt like he started well the season and could have become a gem 3rd round pick for years to come but got some concussions and his play derailed recently to the point LG becomes again a position of need that needs adressing, either with him improving, Campbell playing guard or finding another solution. I mentioned before the draft they should have eyes on a LG to pair with Campbell so he could focus only on his assignment. They drafted a center with versatility to play guard and that's good. Needs to see if he fits better at Center that needs some focus as well. Bradbury didn't compromise but it can be better.

Yes that cannot be understated. Brady was already a top three QB in the league by the time McDaniels was his OC. He has to do alot more with Maye.

It feels like they need more gamechangers at the skill positions. There are too many #2/3 WR's. A reliable TE is good...except he was not reliable in the postseason. Just guys that keep DC's up at night.

Lowe can’t be that bad, I don’t understand why we didn’t try Ben brown and Lowe to spell Wilson and Campbell. You know I’ve been calling for Campbells benching since he came back from injury, he has not played well at all.
I don’t understand why they kept playing them both. Lowe and Brown would not have been worse

It's an insult to your teammates. They are out there facing the music. While you, by far the worst player in the game, can't be bothered to take accountability.
there's a lot of things that bother fans that are a non-issue inside locker rooms

I agree and suggested that at half time. Give the rest of the team a chance and the game was still in reach. You can't worry about a rookie's mental state when the Super Bowl is at stake.

To everyone who says the solution is to kick him into guard though… did that look like the issue to you? Nothing I saw in how he played when he came back looked like someone who be effective at LT, LG, extra TE or anything. He looked serviceable at LT pre injury and then horrible when he returned. How much is injury? How much is better defenses we faced in the playoffs? What is his room for improvement? The team has to answer those questions, but I don't see it as as much of a LT/LG question for him as others do.
I agree. Even if they wanted to move his to guard, who do they find to replace him? We are drafting low and I don't think they find a franchise left tackle through free agency.

I think Campbell learned a lot by playing the top defensive players throughout the playoffs. I think a full offseason with the team, working on getting stronger and the experience he gained this year will make him a better player.

The thing that bothered me was that he never adapted his play style. He's physically incapable of anchoring for the bull rush.

Definitely.

But it kind of says where he is at mentally that he can't face the music. Unless Vrabel (who I believe has babied him) told him not to speak.

i would not be surprised if he wasn't in getting treatment - his knee looked heavily taped/braced, and he was not moving well

How did Vrabel baby Will Campbell?

No doubt that is concerning. He needs to get stronger this offseason. Also, not sure if his injury affected his play.
