Will Campbell Watch

14 pressures... absolutely insane.

That kind of performance gets guys cut. There's no reason why that should happen to any NFL level OT, no matter who lines up across him.

Maye literally had no chance last night. Doesn't matter what QB was under center, the OL (specifically 66, don't even want to use his name) lost that game before a snap was played.

We will be lucky if Campbell ends up being a serviceable guard. He looked like an outright bust last night. Came as close as possible to losing the game single-handedly.
It was mind boggling that Vrabel left him in the game.

my gut tells me the right knee, his anchor leg, was way less than 100% last night, and likely had been getting worse each week of the playoffs, and we will be seeing surgery soon

if that is NOT the case and knee health wasn't an issue, then we have a problem.......but i am firmly in the bad knee camp, and i wonder if he is even ready to go by camp

If he was that injured why was he playing? That’s coaching malpractice.

I think Vrabel put to much faith in the rookies on the OL. Brown was better than Wilson. He should have stayed put with Lowe and Brown

Mike Remmers, who still gets clowned for his performance against Von Miller in SB 50, allowed 7 pressures

14 is an absolute ****ing disaster. I thought the tweet was a lie when I saw that

He probably came back too soon. But it's Overreaction Monday, and I think when the dust clears WC will remain our LT and will be a good one. This is what happens when a rookie gets thrown into a game vs an all-time DL, while recovering from a knee injury suffered 2 months prior.

Really curious what happens this offseason.

I saw enough early in the year to know there’s potential there. But yeah, we have to figure out if he’s going to be the guy at LT.

I would agree that I don’t see why Wilson was played over Brown. Kinda thought Brown was better? It also would’ve helped Campbell out a bit.

I think he re-injured it. Only explanation. Hes way better than last night and most of his season before he was hurt proved it.

And

At a bare minimum, give Lowe some snaps and see what happens

To everyone who says the solution is to kick him into guard though… did that look like the issue to you? Nothing I saw in how he played when he came back looked like someone who be effective at LT, LG, extra TE or anything. He looked serviceable at LT pre injury and then horrible when he returned. How much is injury? How much is better defenses we faced in the playoffs? What is his room for improvement? The team has to answer those questions, but I don't see it as as much of a LT/LG question for him as others do.

Even before he was injured he had a lunging problem. Lunging happens because your feet are too slow. It's basically an "Oh ****!" move that good NFL tackles don't do. It's better to ride the defender as far upfield as possible and get beat by an outside-in move than just lunge and get beat clean off the edge.

It's mind boggling that this hasn't been coached out of him.

Campbell’s probably better suited to guard.

That being said you need a stud draft pick or free agent OT to replace him with. Wilson might be the future at center, but both players need to get physically stronger and mentally smarter.

They’re both rookies, there’s room for a lot of improvement… the talent is there.

Whether or not the injury played a part, or whether the better the competition the more he struggled, it may be time to face the fact that a move to left guard may be fir the best. If Will takes issue with that a good reminder to take the sting away would be that the last time the Pats took a guard with the 4th pick in the draft, his name was John Hannah….

I'm more disappointed of his not talking to the media afterwards
You sucked yesterday and chose to have your worst game as a pro in the most important game.
It's fine it happens and hopefully it makes you stronger just face the music

Yep.

Contrast that with Maye... I thought that was a good postgame presser from him. Never easy for the SB losing QB. Took the right amount of responsibility and gave credit where it was due.

WC Definitely needs to hit the gym. His 320lbs includes a lot of fat
