Since the Seahawks are not an all time great team and the spread is only 4.5 I believe the reason so few "experts" are picking the Pats is the misguided belief that the Pats are an all time weak SB team. I believe the improvement on both sides of the ball for the Pats from the beginning of the season to the present is real, substantial and will be demonstrated for all to see and comprehend tomorrow.

I would be shocked if Vrabel and his team do not make this a much more competitive game than Seattle or its fans or the so called experts expect.

There are far too many assumptions being made in football based on statistics. There’s DVOA and all sorts of other metrics, but the fact remains that the sample size in a single NFL season is extremely small. The whole Strength of Schedule discussion has also gone way overboard this season. If the Patriots had simply been an average 8–9 team this year, giving their six wins to the Dolphins twice, plus the Ravens, Falcons, Buccaneers and Panthers, the Patriots would have played nine games against teams with a winning record, and nothing about their strength of schedule would look unusual. This illustrates how limited the statistical significance of even this metric really is when comparing one of the easiest schedules in recent history to a merely average one.

What my own eyes have told me throughout the season naturally carries more weight for me. Sure, the Seahawks are the favorites going into the game, but this isn’t some exceptional matchup where one side is a clear dominant favorite. It seems to be that way among football “analysts” and journalists based on their picks, but I trust what I’ve seen myself.

If I have to summarize my assessment of the game: it will come down to the fact that the Patriots’ defense — whose toughness and quality even many journalists fail to fully grasp — will punish Seattle’s offense more severely than Seattle’s defense will punish the Patriots’ offense. Maye is a better QB than Darnold, and that will be a key difference. The Patriots’ defense will shut down Seattle’s run game, which is crucial for their offensive balance, forcing Darnold to be more in the spotlight and under pressure. And in the end — whether Darnold “sees ghosts” or not — Seattle’s passing game will be left looking average.

Watching a Madden simulation.

Seahawks scored a TD on the opening drive but Pats are up 31-10 with two minutes before halftime.

No turnovers.

NFL Network one bad pats down and then up for most the game.

They still lost.

Here's a stat I heard on the way to the grocery store that will give you some comfort. When the Seahawks are 3rd and 5 or under, they are the #1 team in the league converting the first down. Now I know that is not in the LEAST comforting, but here's the kicker. When they are 3rd and 7 or more, they are THIRTYTH. Now THAT is something I can get my teeth into.

It's mid night here on the west coast, I can't sleep, I am excited and very nervous at the same time. Game day is finally here !!!!!!! Woohooo.....
I am hoping they come out flying but not too hyped that they struggle the first few drives !!!!!
Very proud of this team and so proud to be a Pats fan ! LFG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone on reddit did this breakdown of common opponents for Seahawks and Patriots:

I did this years ago when the Seahawks were in the SB, both against the Broncos and thought I'd give it another go (maybe even make it a yearly tradition, no matter who's in it). Apologies in advance that I have more to say on the Seahawks games than the Patriots; it's no slight to them, I honestly just paid more attention to the NFC than the AFC this season. The two teams had seven common opponents, in the Steelers, Saints, Buccaneers, Texans, Titans, Falcons, and Panthers:

Steelers:

Seahawks win 31-17 (+14) on the road in Week 2

Patriots lose 14-21 (-7) at home in Week 3

By coincidence, back-to-back weeks. The Seahawks fell behind early, then took the lead late. for the Patriots, it capped off a first three weeks in which the team struggled to find their footing (playing much better since). They outgained the Steelers by over 160 yards, but were doomed by five turnovers (one INT, four fumbles lost).

Saints:

Seahawks win 44-13 (+31) at home in Week 3

Patriots win 25-19 (+6) on the road in Week 6

Both quarterbacks played well, with Darnold throwing two TDs and Maye three, both with no INTs. The difference was in the run game and special teams, with the Seahawks getting two TDs from Kenneth Walker III and one punt-return TD from Tory Horton. Oddly enough, if you just looked at the stats other than total points, you'd think Seahawks-Saints was a close game, with first downs, time of possession, total yards, and even turnovers close. Go figure.

Buccaneers:

Seahawks lose 35-38 (-3) at home in Week 5

Patriots win 28-23 (+5) on the road in Week 10

Remember when Baker Mayfield looked like the MVP? The Seahawks did their part! Mayfield was the one QB other than Matthew Stafford to pick apart Seattle's defense in the regular season, overcoming a 4-TD, 1-INT night from Sam Darnold, to throw the game-tying TD with a minute left and setting up the game-winning FG as time expired. The Patriots played evenly, and much better on defense, with a TD in each quarter, two passing and two rushing.

Texans:

Seahawks win 27-19 (+8) at home in Week 7

Patriots win 28-16 (+12) at home in the Division Round

A Monday Night Football victory for the Seahawks that nobody in Seattle watched, because we were all glued to Game 7 of the ALCS, eagerly hoping the Mariners would make the World Series for the first time. But I digress. The Seahawks survived four turnovers, including a Darnold interception and three fumbles, one of which was in their own endzone for a Texans TD, for a win that didn't seem as close as the scoreboard.

The Texans were sneakily the hottest team in the NFL, which ended with their playoff loss to the Patriots, in which New England forced five turnovers, especially 4 interceptions, one of which was a pick-6. Drake Maye played well, with 3 TDs and 1 INT. The Patriots felt firmly in command all game.

Titans:

Seahawks win 30-24 (+6) on the road in Week 12

Patriots win 31-13 (+18) on the road in Week 7

The Seahawks came closer than they should have to blowing a 20-point lead by giving up three TDs late to make it close. The Patriots did the opposite, playing close early, and pulling ahead big in the second and third quarters. Both teams played the Titans clean, with zero turnovers. The main difference was that the Patriots forced two turnovers to the Seahawks' zero, and dominated the time of possession, while the Seahawks were dominated on the same.

Falcons:

Seahawks win 37-9 (+28) on the road in Week 14

Patriots win 24-23 (+1) at home in Week 9

A tale of two quarterbacks. The Seahawks faced Kirk Cousins, who threw zero TDs and two INTs, trading field goals in the first half before Shaheed's 100-yard opening kick return in the second half started the blowout. (I sense a potential Metamucil endorsement.) Michael Penix Jr. threw for three TDs and zero INTs against the Patriots, in a game where the Falcons surged back in the 4th Quarter, but ultimately lost on a missed PAT. (For obvious reason, I'm assuming the Patriots are the team Falcons fans dread playing the most.)

Panthers:

Seahawks win 27-10 (+17) on the road in Week 17

Patriots win 42-13 (+29) at home in Week 4

After a rocky first few weeks, a statement win for the Patriots! Much like the Saints against the Seahawks, if you only read the stat sheet, you'd have no idea this game was a blowout. No turnovers from either team, with the Panthers actually gaining more yards and dominating time of possession, but the Patriots scored every other way they could, with two passing TDs, three rushing TDs (including one from Maye), and one punt returned for a TD.

The Seahawks were coming off of an epic 38-37 OT win against the Rams, and going into a 13-3 defensive shutdown of the 49ers, with the Panthers sandwiched in between. (Honestly, I was fully expecting a trap game out of this.) In the inverse of the Patriots' win against the Panthers, the Seahawks dominated time of possession and yardage, but put up significantly fewer points, tying 3-3 heading into halftime, and pulling out ahead in the second half.

So, there we go. Did I miss anything big? If we're just going by point differential, the Seahawks played better than the Patriots against common opponents 3 times out of 7, and the Patriots played better 4 times out of 7. Darnold's best game against the Buccaneers (4 TDs, 1 INT) and Maye's against the Saints (3 TDs, 0 INT).

Completely convinced the story of tomorrow is going to be that our defense did much better against their offense than their defense will against our offense. And I think their defense is going to play very well and be a real challenge. It's just that our defense is going to come in with a chip on their shoulder and is going to reintroduce some spectres of the past to The Darnold.

* Chaisson is going to get a sack because their RB can't block anywhere near as well as the one who is out.

* If our D plays how I expect, Marcus Jones and Woodson are going to get their shots at INTs.

* Our ability to stop the run means they're gonna get into 3rd and 6+ more than they like and they aren't gonna convert much.

It’s here!!! Game day baby. 7:45am ADT. Time to go polish up the man cave, run to the store and pick up a few things, make some ice, grab my keg from Nine Locks…come back sit down and think ‘self, did you ever think we would be here today’?

Hell n’awww!

What a year and it would be icing on the cake if somehow the boys can find a way tonight to git ‘er done. Time to fetch the paddles from the closet..

No deep insights from me. But here we are. What an unexpected season. What a bright future.

Today? Who said "you win or you learn"? I prefer the former cuz I'm just a basic bullshlt fan.

So here's to Patriot Nation today AND tomorrow!! Cheers!!!

Last one of the season…

A winning theme…

I haven't wanted a SB win this badly since the last time we played the seahawks.

Let’s go big boys…protect Maye & let him cook up some Seahawk stew..

That next episode is gonna be epic.

Maye had 4 fumbles and an Interception. What the guy failed to mention is that Maye only lost 2 of the 4 fumbles..
Stroud had 4 interceptions and no fumbles.
5>4.

The guy was playing semantics. Especially since Seattle's DEs are no where close to Anderson and Hunter. Demarcus Lawrence had only 6 sacks on the season.
That's all I need to know: Will Campbell needs to hold up. IF Campbell do a decent job on a lesser guy: Maye have a shot to make some Big plays. Will Anderson Jr and D Hunter are not on Seattle. Also because Drake Maye haven't had game near 300yds the writers think our Offense is Dog $h!t. Someone should tell em we are not playing in freezing rain or a Blizzard this time around.

That's it If our Uglies can't do that task: it's the only way Seattle can Dominate us. Not worried about our right side it's our Left side that have some????.

Issue I have with Bad Bunny is that he lacks musical talent and seems to just be a waking political statement with no actual musical ability. If Prince was still alive and rolled out in a skirt I wouldn’t give a **** because the performance itself would be elite.
I've never heard his music so I can't judge him yet.

I heard that he's a rapper. Does he sing or talk to music?

Never mind. I forgot it's 2026 and I can just go check for myseld.

I did. He sucks.
