Stiddy discussion

The one thing Stidham had going for him is that the Broncos team wasn't SUPER RELIANT on the QB position to win. They won on the strength of their defense. Playing your first game of the year in the AFC Championship game has to be pretty wild.

I mean, recently I heard Brian Hoyer on a podcast recollecting the 2017/2018 AFC Championship game when Brady busted his hand open in practice. Obviously we all know Brady ultimately played in that game....but when recounting the days leading up to it...Hoyer was alluding to the fact that he was nervous about starting in the game...he didn't exactly have the mindset of...GREAT, now i have a chance to show the world what I can do.

I imagine the same is true of Stidham.
is stidham this year equivalent of noodle arm manning in 2015 ?

Stiddy doesnt need to play great, just not lose the game. Same as Manning

Why do you think the book on him playing for Sean Payton in 2025 will be anything like the book on him backing up Cam Newton for Bill Belichick in 2020? He’s had literally years to grown and improve since we saw him last, and Sean’s playcalling tendencies with him rn in Denver will be like nothing we’ve seen before.

He’s been in a different system for a couple of years since we last saw him. We’ve seen QBs completely transformed almost literally overnight by playing for different coaches and the changing the systems they play in. Sam Darnold as likely SB QB is a prime example.

Complacency is the quickest path to losing NFL playoff football. You should know that. You’re too good not to know it.
Fair. However, Stidham’s improvement or lack thereof has literally nothing to do with whether the team is complacent or not. Im sure they’re not overlooking Stidham, but we’re fans; we can feel/say whatever the hell we want about the opponent. It bears no outcome on the game..

About he same or a bit better physically. However, Manning obviously usurps Stidham above the shoulders & had good offensive weapons & an all time defense backing him.

Denver's D is very good but not Houston level and their running game sucks.

If we take care of the football, he will need to win the game for them
I was listening to Steve Pazzalo and sam munson of PFF. As per them, denver's style of pass rush is to bring more than 4 and use lot more twists and stunts as compared to the texans which was mostly one on one and something our line has had trouble with. The pass rush on the road and that to in that crowd is my biggest fear for this offense. We have seen the story in 2015 when their pass rush overwhelmed us.

Yep. Major concern. Keep in mind our o-line was shorthanded that game. Plus we had no running game to speak of.

********. If Denver wants to win, Stidham is going to have to make plays.

Excuses, Bo nix would have been fkn SMASHED, STIDDYwill be beat like a drum

And Stork was apparently inadvertently tipping off the plays to Denver's D.

What life is that? The one where he's 1-3 in career starts? Or some imaginary life where he has been a good starter for years but hasn't had that signature win?

It's unbelievable that people can convince themselves that a QB that has won ONE game in 7 years and has lost every single QB competition he has been a part of, is somehow some hidden gem, that's going to be unearthed at age 30, in an AFCCG, no less.

I can't imagine the dramatics about facing Josh Allen if the Bills won that game, if people are scared of Stidham, a guy that hasn't thrown a regular season pass in three years.
Have you not seen the absolute stiffs that have no business playing quarterback in the NFL giving the Patriots fits the last 25 years? I'm never comfortable because I've seen too much.

His tell was so bad I caught on it during the game, but not before I was confounded why the Denver DL was firing off the line so fast. I eventually noticed he would dip his head right before the snap and that the DL was timing their rush off that.

They later said they'd seen him start to do that in the last few games of the season.

I’ve got the game I was randomly watching a few years back the Raiders played against the 49ers in my head with Stidham. Played really well. It’s only one game, and they lost after he threw a pick in overtime. But he looked good and he’s had a really good coach.

They probably start with a high percentage throw to get him in the game like a toss to a receiver or back in the flat.. I would love to see the Pats jump the route for a pick 6 to start the game and take the crowd out immediately.

ט֣וֹב שְׁפַל־ר֭וּחַ אֶת־[עֲנָוִ֑ים] (עניים) מֵחַלֵּ֥ק שָׁ֝לָ֗ל אֶת־גֵּאִֽים׃

Pride goes before ruin,
Arrogance, before failure.

[BB got extremely lucky the next year before the fall.]
Not to get picky but I think that the Hebrew you listed is for Proverbs 16:19, not 16:18 which is the "Pride goeth before the fall"

לִפְנֵי־שֶׁ֥בֶר גָּא֑וֹן וְלִפְנֵ֥י כִ֜שָּׁל֗וֹן גֹּ֣בַהּ רֽוּחַ:

Proverbs 16:18
Before destruction comes pride, and before stumbling [comes] a haughty spirit.
The Hebrew you have listed is Proverbs 16:19
19 It is better to be of humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoils with the haughty.

Yes, we shall see. One issue is they are conditioned for the altitude, whereas doing bull rushes when you aren't conditioned for the altitude can be a problem. Good thing for us is we do have a lot of different DL that can be swapped in as needed.

I think our defense had a strong game against HOU. They made it hard for Stroud to read the coverages, and I doubt Stid will do any better. We have some pretty good ball hawks. If Stid gets an early INT, I think it'll go to his head.

Agree. Both the Texans and Chargers had a really hard time figuring out what the Patriots defense was doing. I think Vrabel and Kur are going to continue this approach and attack Stidham and force him into bad decisions. Patriots win and advance to the Super Bowl.

Not to be too picky, but if my Hebrew is right that says " No one under 5 feet on this ride."

Yes. Main reason Googs was canned. That was Stork's last game in the NFL.

At the end of the year that line was a mess. Vollmer and Cannon were at the tackle position but the interior line was a revolving door. Shaq, Josh Kline and Tre Jackson went back at forth a the guard positions. Andrews was a rookie and should have started.

10 years ago and still annoyed....
