So much happening with coaches moving teams. Are ours safe and sound?

I think all good spots are taken . Thomas Brown is not getting OC job with ravens or bills or commanders or Bucs. So he will stay put. I am sure money might not be a big factor. If we win Kraft will pay more and keep the band . The excess stadium revenue will be able to find all that and more

Money won't be the issue, ambition will be. I don't know about Streicher but Cowden wants to be a GM, and has been interviewing for open GM positions in prior years. I think all of them are sticking for another year, but after that they are going to want their own programs. Can't blame them, trying to get to run your own show is the goal for most front office personnel.

If I was Josh McDaniels, I would seriously question if it's worth ever leaving New England. Every time he has dipped his toes outside Foxboro, it has been a disaster. Besides the Broncos and Raiders, there was also that time he got fired from the Rams after that team did well enough to get Spagnuolo fired.

what about Zac Kuhr. Based on his play calling and the success of the defense should we promote this guy to DC for 2026 season regardless of Terrell's ability to return. He is as good as gone if we don't. Mentioned this before but it seems very little flowers have been thrown Zac's way. Not sure why that is but I hate "upsetting the apple cart" if things are obviously working well.

It was Kuhr I was mainly thinking about when I started the thread.

I think Thomas Brown may be the name to watch--he has a lot of respect and was assistant HC under McVay when the Rams won the Superbowl. He seems like a likely coordinator target, if not HC.

Plus there's always a team like Pittsburgh as a wild card. Mike Tomlin wasn't a particularly big name when the Steelers hired him. Some teams look more at the resume, others at the guy himself.

Honestly if someone's going to end up leaving, it might be Springer. I could see the Cardinals or someone like that going after him.

I suspect the team is past that threshold.
What do you mean by that?

I think a lot may change depending on how the team does in the next game or two.

If we lose this coming weekend, or the game after that, there may be a sense of unfinished business and more of a desire to stick around and finish the job.

OTOH if we win both of the next two games I’d expect there will be more of a desire to cash out while on top, plus the luster of this season will do a lot to enhance market value.

Similar thoughts.....Maybe the current coaching staff see this as just the beginning of building a better and better team. Mind you , what else would they want having taken the team to the AFC game and possibly further. Maybe being involved with a consistent play off team will look better on their cv's

Let’s win two more games this year. If success and trophies lead to chances for the coaches : so be it. All about winning. Next year can take care of itself.

I mean that the front office is probably already convinced that this group of coaches is worth paying top dollar for in order to keep them around.

The chatter seems to be that these are all guys who have been with Vrabel in some way shape or form for a long time, and that leaving him one year into his/their tenure isn't that likely.

I think other head coaches in transition already know this as with the exception of Thomas Brown I haven't seen other Patriot coaches mentioned

Kindof tough to turn down an OC position if offered and I tend to doubt that Vrabel would fault him for taking it. I don't see him making the jump to HC without that - and would worry he's a Rooney Rule interview for the Cards for the HC position, but I'd think the Chargers interest is legit.

Chargers reportedly have landed their next OC but only if he doesn’t get a HC offer. So Brownnwould be their contingency plan, at most.

I’m sure the FAo is happy enough with the results to date to want to keep them together. Question is more whether any of them decides their ambition to climb the corporate ladder right now is greater than their ambition to stay and build another dynasty here.

And if you look at the list of HC interviews for the Cards Brown is the only non-coordinator (or former head coach) to interview with them.

Though Brown should feel great about that because they truly don't need him as a Rooney Rule checkbox given all the other interviews

Not surprisingly the word is that they're not the preferred franchise to coach for so not out of the realm of possibility that they get snubbed by some choices and probably figure that Brown could be considered as an OC for whoever they do pick as HC

But again, he's probably their contingency if everyone else snubs them
