Yep ED and LB should be the order of the day. Lets try and spend some more..

@LB
seems like the whole LB market is waiting for Hightower - so its reasonable to believe that it gets settled today

plan A)
1. Hightower re-signs (hopefully) - app. 10M cap hit (in 2017)
2. quicker, cheaper, hybrid LB/ST (in Worrilow capacity): 1-2M cap hit
Nick Bellore, SF, 27 (6’1, 250)
Sean Spence, TEN, 27 (5’11, 231)
Josh Martin, NYJ - BB praised him before 2nd Jets game or

plan B)
Quick lateral, coverage LB -- app 5M cap hit
UFA (count against comp.): Z.Brown (int. MIA), Hodges, Timmons, Minter, Jenkins
released/trade (not agains comp): Kendricks, PHI; Harris, NYJ, Jackson, IND, Levy, DET

@DE -- app 5M cap hit or lower
Apart from DL (DE) Guy visiting, DL (DE) Odrick visited before
other: Datone Jones, Connor Barwin (poss. trade) etc.
other (quicker LB/DE options): Dumervil, Simon, Ayers (Alexander too exp.)

15/20M (Dola) remain for BB to play his favourite street FA game in next weeks

Pats would probably love a late first for butler. Replace him with a draftee making 10% of what butler would get. By year end he'd be just as good. Bring it!!

Why did they resign fleming. He can't move, most unathletic tackle i've seen.
Because they like him enough to keep him on the 46 most of the time and resigning now with minimal signing bonus (if any) means the only potential cost of keeping him through training camp is opportunity cost of a 90 man roster spot. As long as the coaches like him, it is an almost risk free move.

Blount is off getting stoned to the gills.....since he is under no contract, nobody's going to test him

he will then flush it from his system, sign a team friendly deal and get ready for the season

Wouldn't mind Timmons

The disadvantage is that if the Patriots match they have the best CB-duo in the league for the next 5 years. And you are basically tempting BB to match. If you offer 5/45, the Patriots essentially lost ~5m in capspace this year, when they have an abundance, and gain ~4m for each of the next 4 years, assuming they were going to resign Butler at 13m/yr. Given the expanding cap you might even have to pay 14-15m; so you save 5-6m/yr.

Almost makes me wonder if that is BB's plan :D

Given Bill's history he's going to try to have Butler play it out. I was using 13M since that's Gilmore's number but yes Brown could gamble he would get 14-15/year. But again 25M in your pocket now setting yourself up for life if you do it right or 3.9M and the chance your contract could be 15-20M down the road? Even if he got Gilmore's contact next next year with 40M guaranteed you're betting 21M more now for 15M later. Maybe give him 30M guaranteed now it's betting 26M now for 40M later. Both sides can win.

I think the problem is he wants the 3.9 tossed out so he can get Gilmore's contact now. Ask Deion Branch if that's happening.

LB market starts moving .. one from my radar gone
maybe good news re High

EDIT:

Good deal

John Simon has signed for the Colts. Was an under-the-radar target I thought Pats may have been interested in.

Thanks for putting this together in 1 place.

We probably need to keep 10 million +/- to sign draft picks. So, that will have to be considered with what we have left (to spend).

I swear if we end up losing the Super Bowl because we don't have an elite back up swing tackle I'm going to send Kraft a hand-written letter requesting him to fire that idiot BB

Is it me or does that seem like low money for a starting LB? 4.5M per year?

Nothing on high yet? This team really need's DE help through FA or the draft.
