Too many to count can we let BB take over playcalling duties.
Is it too much to get Bills old buddy Jim Schwartz his defense looks like what O always want

I vote for anyone and everyone who has suited up to "play" corner opposite Butler.

For me this was easy, Jamie Collins. Apparently was such a pain in the ass he got shipped off to Cleveland. On the field I was also disappointed as I really thought this was the year he was going to put it all together and be the DPOY with 100 tackles 6 sacks 3 picks and a couple FF. Instead he looked a step slow and indecisive with the exception of the Texan game never playing like an above average LB. Still wish he was a patriot and would have rode out the season but easily my biggest disappointment.

I'd have to go with Sheard. I'm not sure he's even currently worth the 5.5 million per year we're paying him right now. He sure won't be getting the big deal this offseason that we once thought.
I voted sheard too but to be fair he no longer has chandler jones or jamie collins drawing attention from him.

Have to go with "all of the above". How often do you see Pats receivers as wide open as the seahawks receivers were last night? 99% of the time, the Pats receivers are BLANKETED by the defense and lucky for us, Brady can thread those needles, but i counted 14 pass plays last night when the seattle receiver caught the pass uncontested and without a defender within 5 yards......Zone defense does NOT WORK!!!!!

My kingdom for a freakin turnover!

I'm willing to pull its his rookie season card, maybe next year he'll get better or as time goes on, if he can fix his fumbling issues he can be a big weapon at punt/kick returns
I agree.

Still, I hoped for more this year.

Only time will tell if Cyrus Jones simply has a case of the yips or if he's failing to protect the ball the way that he should. At this moment in time, I'm guessing a bit of both.

To say that we expected something "more" this year from our first pick taken in the draft would be an understatement. While no one expected him to be starting out there, there was a reasonable expectation for him to see rotational reps in obvious passing situations/garbage time.

Even in a worst case scenario for him, he'd still be returning kickoffs and punts in a somewhat effective manner to justify having a rookie on the field. Obviously, that hasn't happened, so he's losing out on both counts. With Belichick deciding to move on from Easley (1st), Jones (1st), and Collins (2nd) within the past six months, having a void from another high round draft pick may be starting to catch up, both now and for the future.

He was the highest pick in the Patriots 2016 draft. In all honesty, the guy will be lucky if he isn't inactive for the rest of the season. It appears that he can't be trusted to do any job asked of him, and he tends to fail in dramatic fashion.

With the diaspora of talent for various reasons and other players not playing up to expectations I sense another defensive rebuild coming after this season. Welp.

All our DBs, linebackers have been disappointing. Our safeties have been a non factor.

I was shocked to not see Malcom Brown in the poll. Sometimes I think DT get overlooked because they are harder to evaluate than CBs or DEs. Brown has looked like the player he should be in about two games this year. He really needs to step it up and become a more consistent, complete player.

Our DTs in general are lack luster. We made a risky, bold move in letting Knighton go and going young with guys like Valentine and Hamilton and so far it hasn't paid off. Valentine is as raw and inconsistent as you would expect a player his age. Hamtilon actually looked pretty good but now he's hurt. Branch is great against the run but awful against the pass.

Sheard is playing fine. Stat wise he's trending pretty close to the same as last year. What I'm seeing is we do get pressure from the outsides somewhat consistently (Long, Sheard, Ninkovich, Flowers) and the QB escapes either to the other side or moves up. Our DTs aren't pushing their guys back consistently and Hightower can't blitz every single down.
I think the problem is a passive scheme.

I'd like to see Hightower and Harmon signed. I think it's still too early to determine yet with Brown and Valentine, so let's hope for good luck there.

I don't know if continuously drafting high round players on defense is just Belichick's plan due to using cheap, rookie pacts to his advantage, or if it's just a sign of the picks failing.

I felt that the D has stuffed the run pretty well. But why would you run against NE when you can just pass.. EZPZ
Non existent pass rush
Bend and break defense
Obligatory 5 yard cushion downfield for stress free WR completions
"No ball hawkers permitted"

Yes sir....EZPZ
In fact, I think "EZPZ" is Patricia's signal for when he wants to go "Bend and Break"

Cyrus has had plenty of opportunities to make amends....but guy blows it over and over....time to go

All of them.

The sky is not falling folks, we are 7 & 2 after a particularly difficult 4 game run..

If were to gauge statistics vs. Seattle, we were just about the same in time of possession(30:25 to 29:25) and total yards gained(420 to 385)... does that mean that Seattle has a bad defense as they gave up about the same number of yards???

Then there were the two Pats turnovers.. probably the most telling stat of all.

Before this game, where we allowed 31:

Tyrod Taylor twice.
Ryan Tannehill.
Brock Osweiler.
Landry Jones
Browns QB's.
Andy Dalton.
And a struggling Carson Palmer.

That's a real gauntlet of QB's that they've been tested against.
We've faced bums all season then the first good QB lights us up lol
