A bit surprised nobody jumped in for edge convo.
OK, let me start first with looking at NE FAs and possible upgrades.
Wise was solid PTP DE/DL esp. over the last two seasons and since everyone is just counting sacks he might not have a strong market in this deep FA class. There will be quite a...
as projected in GM LOUNGE. Lots of DL cuts to follow to add to an already deep FA field
this one i saw as realistic option for new NE DL rotation or at least TC competition
And thats not the record either :)
Collins = 5.3M for 4.5 years and 3-rd & 4-rd picks..
Browns paid 27.5M for 2.5 years and gave up 3-rd pick.
Detroit paid him 18M guaranteed on 3y/30M contract.
Expected. It was essentially a one year deal with overblown option (12.5M guaranteed on March 20). They can still bring him back on a lowered market price..
Plenty of dumping overblown contracts from last couple of years coming (now and after June1)
One thing to keep in mind is that expected new media deals will effect structures of this yrs low Cap contracts - pushing cap hits to 2023 even on shorter deals..
EDGE POOL
Another deep, versatile pool at position of need. Almost feels like 2017 re-draft with most our binkies again available :)
- so @reamer, @BaconGrundleCandy and others from Draft board that put a lot of study in these guys hopefully can chime in.
I didnt watch much of 2021 edge class...
It is possible. It also depends what one sees as big hole. I bet BB view of TE room differs significantly from this board. So what we might see as big hole or big need he might just see as opportunity to upgrade. Same goes for LB and maybe some other position as well.
As said before ill first...
One aspect of making a gamble splash like this is psychological esp. since it happened so far ahead of New League Year.
Could benefit ARI talking to other FAs..
Im surprised people value Butler so highly and he was my binkie :) Miguel has him at 8M apy iirc!
Kudos for specific numbers though!
I see him at 5M range. (i wouldn't re-sign him at that price this year though)
Still 23M guaranteed is quite a gamble. I understand GM is getting nervous & they bought into hysteria of maximizing rookie QB contract but this is not how you win. They are 24-39 without a single winning season or playoff since they signed CJ on that monster deal and now they have him on 21M...
nope. the more $ is spent on top contracts the more loss will be on the mid/low contracts.
If insanity like this deal prevails on Day1 despite 30M less cap per team (GMs planned on +210M projection), there will be a lot of sad players/agents later pushing for 1y deals..
