Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

Nice! He is old but is an upgrade over Tank.

Boy I disgree. He looked ancient in Denver last year. I was hoping he'd go on speed dial in case Rodney or Sanders got seriously hurt.

That being said, maybe he can be a LB/S hybrid, but I doubt he's even fast enough to be a coverage linebacker any more.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

yea, a link may be useful...

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

I hope is still has gas in the tank.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

Im happy to hear this, but no link? Lets tighten up here.

I know he fought through some injuries last season, might've been a factor. He's still really good against the run. They can find a use for him. It would certainly be ideal though if he could fill what would have been Tank's role.

Thread prediction...

Homers "Nice! Lynch is going to be a GREAT fit here. Belichick will use him in some genius way that will showcase all of good qualities, while hiding all of his weakness's!! " :rocker:

:disagreement:

Non-Homer's - "This is a waste of a roster spot. Lynch is old, slow, and well past his prime. I thought we were trying to get younger!"

Summed it up well. We can basically skip the next 200 posts, this will be the bottom line of it.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

Mike is not Reporting this. Until he reports it, I don't believe it.

PATS SIGN LYNCH
Posted by Mike Florio on August 14, 2008, 10:00 a.m.
A league source tells us that the Patriots have agreed to terms with safety John Lynch.

Lynch, a nine-time Pro Bowler, could assume the role that the team was exploring for Tank Williams, who recently landed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Williams had been practicing at linebacker.

At this stage of his career, Lynch probably is a better fit playing closer to the line of scrimmage. Besides, the team already has a Lynch-style safety in Rodney Harrison.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

I like the signing .John Lynch is a leader who will bring intelligence and poise to The Defense. Those things can never hurt a team.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

PFT is usually (always ?) right when they state something as fact. It's when they throw out conjecture that it's about a 10% success rate.

I'm sure Lynch will help in a limited role. Not sure I want to cut one of the intriguing young guys for him but games start in a few weeks and if this makes us a better team it's tough to argue.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

Lynch to the Pats is 4 years too late. Pats really must have worked on something with Tank playing that DB/ILB spot and it looked like it was going to be used often. Maybe Lynch takes over that role.

Looking at the schedule this year, Pats do play some really good TE's.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats

I see him as a huge asset on the field and in the locker room. Great work ethic and a definite Belichick-type player.

Re: John Lynch signs with Pats (Not Confirmed)

Yeah ... Belichick is an idiot signing some old geriatric player. Get real you haters out there. Amazing how some fans think they are wiser than the coach.
