How much longer in the Brady era?

Brady has 5 more season including this upcoming one.....then once Brady leaves the Patriots will need to find a good QB....hopefully one in FA not through the draft

this topic makes me wonder, when were no longer the "dynasty team"(the thought makes me shudder), which other team will be what we are now?

The Lions will take over as a dynasty in the 2010/2019 decade - once they fire Millen that is :D

Are you Jon Kitna?

Yes,I am and I predict 15 wins this year (Of Course that means that the backup QB behind me plays that is becasue I am certainly not capable of double digit wins,at least in one season)

AS LONG AS HE WANTS TO!

Life will present him with a series of challenges, including the retirement of his COACH and and his future wifes mentality. Examples:

MiKe Jordan retired to ...well, not go home to his wife and 3 kids but to run around with a bunch more women in minor league cities as he had already had alot in the major ones. Cost??-$130+ MILLION

Brett Favre has $12M/yr contract on the table and there is NO WAY his WIFE lets him sit at home on his ass. Anyone ever tried it for a sat. afternoon without being put to work let me know......Cost??-His reputation and god-like status in Green Bay.

Roger Clemens' , nuff said.Cost?-Reputation, Millions, Wife? Prison?

If he is healthy and can convince his coach to stay....he has at least another 7+years in him. Another reason I dont like the OD drafting.

do you think brady can play at a pro bowl level for the next 5 years bro?

I would think Brady has about five years left in his prime. By "prime" I don't mean he'll be nearing his TD record every year, but that's because I find 50:8 as impressive a TD:INT ratio with Moss & Welker as I do 24:12 with Caldwell & Gaffney. However I think he should be good for a 7.5 YPA and close to 30 TDs and under 15 INTs each season. I know he has to fight winds in New England, New York, and Buffalo every winter but Troy Aikman always said in Dallas the last thing to go was his arm so I wouldn't worry about that aspect of Brady's game for a while. If they keep him upright I can't really envision a scenario where he isn't continuing to play at least well enough to rack up the AFC East championship each year, and that's at a minimum.

Brady's numbers(and the pro bowl needs numbers)are due as much to the team and coaching staff as him. Take BB and Moss and put them on the Jets and maybe Brady doesnt make the Pro Bowl THIS PAST YEAR....a year he was 1 vote short of unanimous MVP!! Football is a TEAM game, it has to do with health, preparedness, skill, mixed in with a little potential and luck. We can cry over losing a SB because of an amazing catch or we can rejoice with a couple game-winning kicks.....its perspective. If you tell me before our first game last year that we lose in the super bowl I would say it was a very good but not great year....thats how we should view it now. To dwell on it because of the quest for the perfect season is futile, and I think the best thing that can happen would be to lose a game early this year....and NO, never thought I would have said that.

this is a tough thread for me to read. it brings back the last two years, when TB was, as he remains today, at the peak of his talent.

in one of those years, the pats' Front Office, for whatever reasons that we can debate forever, stripped him of his best weapons and he still almost got it done, with the team running out of steam in the second half of that game in indy we all want to forget. last year, he had the weapons but, for reasons that have been debated for hundreds of hours out here, it didn't happen in Arizona.

that's easily two more rings he might have had with just a few things breaking differently, some in his control, many not. but the nfl is a tough place to win and every season has its "woulda, shoulda, coulda" teams.

Yeah, the Pats could've won the SB in each of the past two seasons, and, last year in particular, they were obviously the best team in the NFL That being said, you can't pick and choose only the games where things went wrong for the team, it doesnt work that way. When the Pats won 3 in 4 SBs, A LOT of breaks went their way...they were getting the lucky bounces NY got in the SB and the Colts got in the '06 AFCG. It's somewhat true that you create your own luck, but no team will ever have things fall their way 100% of the time, in fact you'll be considered a great team if things broke your way about 50% of the time.

As for Brady's longevity, as others have said it depends on his OL. Brady's skillset is not highly dependant on his physical ability. Obviously, he has a great arm, but what makes him a top 5 QB is his ability to make insanely quick reads on defenses and combining that with flawless decision making. Unless he suddenly suffers many concussions, that skill should for the most part remain in tact for many years. Another plus for Brady is his performance being at such a high level that, when the inevitable drop occurs 4-5 years from now, he'll still be good to great. It also should not be discounted what having Moss on the team will do for his career going forward both in numbers and with the prospects of stretching his career.

...

No doubt. Getting to the top of the mountain and winning when a team is there requires that a lot of things break just right. One year, there's a tuck call and two impossible kicks in a blizzard; another year, some guy who might not make the Giants' roster this year traps a ball on his helmet with Rodney Harrison on his back.

But, my point was different. In the NFL, especially today, getting to the top of the mountain is so difficult that getting there and then losing tough two years in a row is not only disappointing (as it would be under any circumstances), but, if we're thinking of TB's place in history, represents missed opportunities that might not present themselves again.

My own perspective on Brady now is not as a Pats fan but as a long time student of NFL history. As a Pats fan, he's delivered beyond any expectations any of us could have had when he stepped on the field to replace Drew Bledsoe nearly eight years ago. He owes us nothing more and we owe him our gratitude and respect. As a fan of this franchise for many years, I'm more than satisfied with five trips to the AFCCG, four to the SB and three rings in a decade. It's so far beyond anything I could have ever imagined that it's almost silly.

What I'm interested in now is how Tom Brady will be considered when the sages of the League and informed fans debate the "greatest QB of all time." He's already clearly earned his place in that debate, but, today, I'd have to put Montana and maybe Starr or Unitas or Graham ahead of him. With another ring, considering that he accomplished what he did in the Cap and FA era, I think that most will concede that he is the greatest ever.

I think the length of time he plays will be dependent upon the length of time the head coach stays. I could see them leaving together.

wow, that seemed like a huge diss to brady.

Are you talking about Tommy's chance at a Pro-Bowl?

I never understand the What if so and so and what about if he was on this team or that team or Randy had Pink Eye and did not catch the ball or Wes got hurt in a Mustache growing contest.

It's all irrelevant, right? Our team consists of the guys on the 53 Man roster and that roster is WAY past good enough to get a whole bunch of guys in the Pro-Bowl...including the leader of the team.

Let's not dwell on this, shall we? The thought alone makes me sick to my stomach.

He(Brady) will be the first to agree, the QB gets too much blame when they lose and too much credit when they win. He didnt somehow take a strange steroid that lept him past Peyton in TD tosses......it was his teammates, on this I bet we agree. I mean his own DAD said his 06 season was better than his 07. Not meant as sacreledge(sp?)but knowing this I dont know why Moss didnt get a single vote for MVP, that kinda shocks me. What does a guy gotta do?? He made the offense so completely different than the year before...

The deal is that Brady's '07 was so far beyond what anyone had ever seen from a QB that it was lights out for all contenders. It WILL go down as the greatest single QB season of all time. It's not often that you witness history happening in front of you week after week AND you are completely aware of it and it's significance.

There's no slight to Randy. He just got eclipsed....completely - and the Sports writers saw what we saw, lighting in a bottle.

Tom's a team first guy and he knows what he has with Randy - But you still have to execute and that's all Tommy, what you are doing is minimizing what he did last year - Perhpas not intitionally, but still that's a dangerous position to take.
