Michael Wilbon: Predicts 9-7/10-6 record for 2008 Patriots

neanderthal. He even looks like one.

That may be even more stupid than when Felgerrrr said Moss would catch under 50 balls.

Was it the quote where Wilbon said teams should start going after Brady's knees for "running up the score?"

I like Wilbon also actually, but I think that any non-Pats fan hates the Pats now and that's probably his justification for picking them to go 10-6.

Especially since "Any given Sunday" isn't a very tangible reason to predict a season. Nothing has transpired that would indicate a 10-6 or 9-7 season. Just because it "could" happen doesn't mean that it's reasonable to predict that it will. Brady "could" get injured and BB retire, does that mean it's reasonable to predict the Pats will be 4-12?

He didn't say they "should". He said they "might" if the Pats keep running up the score. And, like it or not, we did run up the score on defenseless teams last year. But hey, that was all good with me. Belichick will be DAMNED if he is going to let a couple of reporters taint his legacy. What better way to prove that the cameras didn't help if, after you take them away, we are still blowing other professional teams out?

Well he was making up false animosity against the Pats for "running up the score." No players or teams mentioned going after Brady's knees, Wilbon just made it up. And it never happened. And "running up the score" implies deliberately trying to embarrass the opponent by trying to score an excessive amiunt of points. I don't think that's what the Pats were doing when we had Eckel and Cassell in the game in the 4th quarter. Anyway, it's not unreasonable to say that he prbably dislikes the Pats, and since there's no other tangible reason the Pats should fall to 9-7, I don't see why his dislike of the team isn't a good reason for his prediction.

I've read some of your posts and seem to be very level-headed. As a fan of one of the teams that got the score run up on, I have absolutely no problem with the Pats doing it. These guys are professionals and the Pats don't have to let up for anyone. But if I was a player on the Bills (especially after the questionable Wilfork hit on Losman), the thought to take a shot at Brady might have ended my head. Professionals don't wanna be shown up. All Wilbon did was express this. But I guess he deserves a heart attack for this blasphemy.

Think about the media FRENZY that would have happened in 2004 if someone had said "Man, those damn Colts keep running up the score...someone should take out one of Peyton Manning's knees!" People would have lost thier damn minds. But saying it about Tom Brady is perfectly fine.

Why are you here, Marv? Isn't the Stadium Wall looking for more people to discuss the Toronto Bills?

Who said he deserves a heart attack? Nobody. Just like Wilbon didn't say Brady deserves to have his knees blown out. He implied it by saying it would be reasonable if it happened and showed that he thought the Pats were being unsportsmanlike.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that not EVERYONE in the national media needs to ballwash the Patriots? He picked them to go 9-7 or 10-6, what's the big deal? Try to take off the the homer glasses and realize it is OK for someone to think that they won't do well. Anything can happen on any given Sunday and we know that. I just don't understand why everyone gripes because ONE guy does not think they'll go 16-0 again. He picked us to be mediocre, so who cares? Get over it. Do I agree with him? No. But not everyone sympathizes with the Pats.

I agree that it's no big deal if someone has an opinion that goes against the grain, but what does it have to "sympathizing with the Patriots?" Picking them to be 9-7 is pretty F-ing stupid unless he has a crystal ball that tells him Brady will be injured.

So while I appreciate you trying to temper things here, I think YOU, too, are embracing hyperbole. There's some daylight between thinking Wilbon's prediction is baselessly pessimistic and your characterization that people are complaining because "ONE guy does not think they'll go 16-0 again." Take a breath.

unfortunate...

it appears stupidity is a lasting state

defenseless teams?

are u kidding? as long as a defense was on the field, those teams were prety damn defensive

not our problem that they werent good defensively

Wilbon is openly unknowledgable about football. Kornheiser, surprisngly, generally carries the conversation when they're discussing football and he often has to fill Wilbon in on information.

So with that, it's no surprise he makes this prediction. How they win only 9 games with that offense and that schedule would be a mystery to me.

I really don't see any way the Pats lose more than 5 unless Brady gets hurt. I'm predicting 13-3 as of now.

This poster did:
I forgot about that, maybe that heart attack he had was karma.

Really??? You can't talk football with another fan without a silly comment. That's pretty sad.

And Toronto Bills crack? Damn, you're original. Do you got some your momma jokes next?

Forget it Wildo, your dealing with maybe an 17-18 yr old at best troll from some God forsaken place that thinks the word Karma means "deserves". Hes just trying to stir things up.

It wasn't a crack, it was an accurate portrayal.

This isn't "talking football", this is you saying someone is "classless" for saying one thing MIGHT have lead to another.

Had you wanted to talk football, you would have replied to my first post about you, or the part in the second one where I made the comparison to the 04 Colts. You are the one who decided not to say anything until I made the Toronto Bills comment.

And while we're at it, is you being a Bills fan on a Pats message board your way of being "original"? Because it's actually called "trolling" and "being an *****". Plus, we already have at least one Bills fan who is not a complete tool (FootballFanetic), so feel free to p!ss off at any time.

How come all fans of other teams are classified as trolls? Marv and I are having a very pleasent/informative discussion about the 2008 Bills in the VLR.

Because most of them are here for the sole reason of starting sh!t.

Feel free to go back to your VLR discussion.

I never had a problem with Aqua...

I know a lot of people here didn't like him though, I never saw him making any trolling posts.
