Patriots have easiest schedule...

Everyone has to remember that last year the Pats had one of the hardest schedules by SOS. That was with the Jets as a playoff team the year before and Miami at least being respectful. Both were awful last year.

Of course, the opposite can happen as well. Miami will be better this year, Buffalo should improve with Trent Edwards having a few more snaps, and teh Jets would be immediately better if Mcfadden falls into their laps. SOS means absolutely nothing

I would take 8-8 under a backup QB, getting in a 4-way tie for the last wild-card spot, winning out on the 6th tiebreaker, winning on the road in the playoffs and taking the Lombardi in Tampa over our 18-1 last year.

We will likely fall somewhere in between.

Except for the back up QB part.

Could you please edit that so I can sleep tonight?

No it's not, our strength of schedule last year was close to .500 despite Miami. We just have a weak schedule this year with our division BUT ALSO the two West divisions.

Yes it is. You don't think playing a 1-15 team twice (2-30) helps make your schedule weak? Last years strength of schedule goes off of 2006 numbers when Miami was 6-10. 12-20 is head and shoulders above 2-30.

It's all about the sticker on the helmet, not the name on the jersey.

I'm sorry, but when it comes to tom brady, its about the name on the jersey.

this is probably the most meaningless stat in the nfl and, in the pats case this year, distorted by the fact that we have two games vs. the fins and faders. from a travel perspective, the list of teams we play is brutal. if the schedule has them going transcontinental every couple of weeks, it will be very tough. in addition, we have to go to indy again. the steelers will have something to prove. the cards and rams are big questionmarks and the niners underperformed last year. the bills are getting better. i don't see this as an easy schedule at all.

No it's not. Jeez. Of course it plays A FACTOR. However when our 2008 opponents were .387 last year and our 2007 opponents were .479, both of those include the division games. The .479 is the ACTUAL winning percent from 2007 which includes Miami twice.

So, no, it is NOT because of Miami. Miami plays a 1/8 factor into it, yes, but .387 vs. .479 says that it is CLEARLY not one team making the difference when that team factored equally into last year and this year.

We're going 12-4 next year, I'll bank on that right now. But we'll win the Super Bowl.

As long as the 1 loss is in the regular season... I'm ALL FOR IT!!!!

Hehe, that's what I was planning on. Screw the undefeated regular season, we already done that. Let's just get the Lombardi back to where it belongs, Foxboro!!!

I guess if we played all the teams on our new schedule and they were exactly the same teams that they were last year, then our schedule would be easy.

However teams don't stay the same from year to year with FA and the draft. So ESPN's saying we have the easiest schedule is another stupid meaningless statement on top of other stupid statements by the mediots. Teh end of December would be the right time to make that statement

I thought I was going to apply logic -- but you beat me to it. These "Beam me up..."-type topics are tiring. I remain thankful that Belichick & Co. play 'em one game at a time.

The travel is a killer. Three of the last four on the road, and two back-to-back west coast weekends. Ouch.

I think even if its says its easy, it wont be played out till the season happens.. 13-3 or 12-4..

We will go undeafeated at home though

I know 3 games, SD, Indy and Seattle will be our toughest of the yr

the other could be Jets or at Miami, even though they stink and last yr was different, we never play well in Miami ...

I'd rather fly to the west coast to play the 49ers than stay at home and play Dallas.

At Miami and hosting Denver will be losses.

i dont think so, they are much better than miami and should win again. they could lose like in 2004, but i think that is unlikley. denver does have our number, but that was pre randy moss.

Unless something happens in the Cutler department, Denver sucks. I know they've had our number in the past, but I think we'll mow them down this year just like in '03.
