Sebman and all, reading all this and seeing how Harvey works....You know how BB likes his LBs big, and I know his "perfect" position is 4-3 DE, but...
How would Harveys skills translate to ILB?
I see BB LOVING versitile guys like AD and Vrabel.....he is big enough, and his overall speed could be covered up a bit. I dont think it would be an easy transition, but if you see how we like DEs as ILBs maybe we put a ATHLETE in there....or just be able to move him in and out to mess with the offense..

Long, Chris ---------- Virginia ---1 6-3 272 4.75 2.70 1.53 34 10'04" 4.21 7.02
Gholston, *Vernon ---- Ohio State -1 6-3 266 4.65 2.65 1.53 37 35 1/2 10'05" 4.40 7.12
Harvey, *Derrick ------ Florida -- 1 6-5 271 4.84 2.76 1.59 31 28 1/2 09'05" 4.36 7.27
Groves, Quentin ------ Auburn ---- 1 6-3 259 4.53 2.62 1.57 30 29 1/2 10'00" 4.42 7.31

Anybody have Jason Jones' numbers?

BB does seem to like bigger LB's overall, but at inside LB they generally haven't used many LB's who are over 6'2"-6'3", and they only used the 6'4" Vrabel at inside LB when they had to. That experiment caused Vrabel to develop back problems, and he no longer likes the idea of playing inside.

I can't see Harvey playing ILB, at all.

He might transition to the elephant role in NE's 34, but I can't see him making that (34 ILB) transition.

Some college DE's who could possibly make the transition:
Jameel McClain (He played both DE and LB in college. His game and size seem to make sense, and he recently improved his forty time and VJ at Syracuse's Pro Day.*)
Avril (Maybe, but he's more of an OLB candidate.)
Titus Brown (played MLB to start his career, and then switched over to DE. I see him more as a 34 OLB, but with some work he might be able to make the transition.)

* McClain posted 4.55 and 4.56 forty times, and a 32.5" VJ at his Pro Day.

He's the 11th ranked DE in the draft.

Basically, what this means is, if Clady, the Longs and Gholston are gone, trade down as far as possible and take Avril.

I agree that, if this mock scenario holds true and the Longs, Gholston and McKelvin are gone, then I would attempt to trade down. I hesitate to draft Clady at 7 only because he might be switched to RT, and I'm not sure if he can adequately adapt.

Thanks Seb. He's not getting enough love for a Pats conversion project in my mind.
