I know there's a mega thread but actual news kind of deserves a little more attention :

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/general/view.bg?articleid=1068340&srvc=home&position=0

"Patriots quarterback Tom Brady [stats] is suffering from a high ankle sprain, according to a source familiar with the injury.

It’s a mild sprain, a second source indicated, and is not expected to pose a problem for the NFL’s MVP moving forward toward the Super Bowl in Arizona in 12 days."

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

even mild, aren't high ankle sprains supposed to be worse than ordinary sprains? Also, this most likely is not true.

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

This sounds like a load of BS, the big steamy kind.

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

I know its hockey but doesnt Sidney Crosby have a high ankle sprain? And he is out a month+

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

isnt high ankle sprain what T.o suffered from?

Karen Guregian has been good recently and this fits with what Brady's dad said. Sometimes it really is what they say it is. Yes, mild high ankle sprains are worse than low ankle sprains but this is a limited mobility position, he's not out there trying to cut at full speed.

But what this means is that he won't have healed by the SB. He's not exactly a scrambler, but it would be nice for him to be able to run for a first if he needs to. I'm fairly certain this is not good news if it's true. (If it was a severe high ankle sprain would they say "severe?") Also pushing off on that ankle is fairly important for passing (see 3 INT v. Chargers)

...yeah but Sid, who lives just down the road from me btw, and his style of play warrants the rest. He logs a lot of icetime. TB will prolly need the rest and it will do him some good. Depending on the severity of the sprain, we will know in time hoe effective he will be.

Hopefully it is of the mild variety. I am sure TB will be out there and play well next Sunday...

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

Just before Brady was sacked by Olshansky, his right foot rotates outward, the classic definition of a "high ankle sprain". The injury was not caused by contact. Review the tape. People need to chill out.

TB suffered the same injury in the 2001 AFCCG (although it looked far more severe). He played pretty well in the SB and wasn't noticably limping.

I'm sure Brady's injury is significantly more mild than the one Crosby or TO suffered, as both those guys were on crutches for at least a short time after. Also, Crosby needs to be explosive every time he puts his foot to the ice for well over twenty minutes a game. TO needs to be able to cut and turn in his routes.

As mild as a sprain as this appears to be, it should really be a non-factor, especially at the QB position.

Remember, especially on a Coach B team that it will be difficult to get the exact, correct injury on Tom. Coach never likes to have that information leak out to the public for the other team to know.
Plus, why would Tom walk around on it if it is a sprain despite being mild? With only 13 days to gametime, I would think he would maximize the healing process by resting it completely in the early going. Sounds all BS to me too..

Think about what you're saying here, and keep in mind we're not all the same.

McNabb found himself on the IR with a sports hernia, Brady played with the same injury, and had some pretty effective games. During the 2003 playoffs Brady had to have his knee drained every week. Do you remember the performance he put up in that SB?

Also, High ankle sprains are of bigger concern for Wideouts because their constantly running, and cutting on that bad ankle. While Brady has to move around, and make some quick movements, he's not required to move nearly as often or as fast as your average Wideout. Also, it's been reported as "mild" which siggest it could very well heal before the SB. Why would you be anything close to certain it will not?

I had what doctors called a "severe" ankle sprain, and was back on the field two weeks later (missed one week). I'm not suggesting my case tells you anything about Brady's situation, just that we're all different. Oh, and father Brady claims Tom has a "tweaked ankle", and Tom went out clubbing with his girlfriend last night.....get the point?

Sounds more like he twisted it bad or bruised it or something than he sprained it, especially up towards the shin. A high ankle sprain is usually pretty nasty; you don't go out clubbing with it two days later (especially when you have potentially the biggest game of your life 10 days away). Just because he was limping or wearing a cast doesn't mean it was a sprain; bruises and bad twists can hurt for a couple days, too. But they fade much, much quicker.

He rolled his ankle? Sounds more like a twist than a sprain to me, then.

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

isn't a high ankle sprain like one of the things we DON'T want this to be? doesn't it usually sideline players for weeks? why is this good news, if it is true?

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

An FYI -
Ty Law's Lis Franc Fracture was originally clasified as a "high ankle sprain". Randall Gay lost the better part of 2 seasons to a "high ankle sprain"

Re: Definitive Word on Brady's Foot (GOOD NEWS)

Can we title this the "Sally" thread?? Would you all stop gripping?? Embarrassing!
Do any of you honestly believe Tom Brady would be romping around NYC on a bad wheel?? Don't you have more faith than that in this guy?? And this organization??
Relax Sally's!! Go have a glass of warm milk.
