He's been hitting extremely hard for his size, showing why he won two hard hitter of the year awards at Miami. He's also been wrapping up well, and getting good leverage against the ball carrier.
I noticed a few posters talk about his missing on Turner (in other threads), and Turner gaining some extra yards because of this. I don't know if some posters are just confusing Turner for Sproles, but in any case I don't remember Meriweather missing on Turner, and giving up extra yards.
On that Sproles play Meriweather came up to make the stop, but Sproles cut to the outside just before he got there, and gained some extra yards. Meriweather turned, chased, and got in on the tackle.
So, Sproles (who has very good open field ability) made him miss, and as a rookie Brandon still has room to improve. I do like that he was able to catch back up to a very fast Sproles and get in on the tackle. Kind of goes along with my pre-draft scouting report: His game speed is better than he times.
I'll be interested to hear what he's working on this offseason, and to see how he's progressing through training camp & the preseason. If he works on a few little things this offseason (ball skills among them) he'll be all set. I'd like to see him gain about 5 pounds going into next season, too.
