Moss and court mentioned in the same sentence

Why are you so desperate for the mods to close this. If it's false, which it obviously is, then the fact that this station put it out there is a story to talk about because they will be sued.

It's crap, I guarantee it is. We don't need this distraction, the Patriots don't need it, no one needs it. It wouldn't surprise me if this was engineered by someone with malicious mischief in mind. The fact of the matter is that MOSS HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME OR ARRESTED FOR ANY CRIME!!! It is the media at its very worst, and this needs to die.

uh...guess you can't read plain English...I'm not calling that station...the sports departments of the Providence Journal,Boston Herald and the New York Post are calling them...and soon the NY Times....we'll see at 12 am when the updated web sites of all these newspapers comes online

Let's just say HYPOTHETICALLY that this document exists. If this radio station was able to obtain a copy of this document before the Court/Sheriff Offices closed, likely around 5PM, they may be the only ones that have concrete evidence that everyone is looking for. Why not call them and ask them questions?

I thought we're trying to figure out if the news report is accurate or not? Just putting in Randy Moss's history in their story doesn't make it credible.
Oh, is that what you were asking. Sorry, I didn't realize that was wha you were asking when you posted this:

Are we sure that this is the Randy Moss, and not some random Randy Moss?
Silly me for saying the article referred to NFL star, bumping the cop in Minnesota and so forth.

I'm pretty sure that our talking about it here won't distract any of the players. But it'll be a big lawsuit, which I find kind of intriguing. Anyway, I'm fairly certain that 90% of the people here believe this to be bull**** radio hoax or something. Although it is very odd that they would also publish it on their website.

How is it vindication when they cited the original post from the questionable source.

You don't understand how the press works. If this story had legs, it would have been all over the major outlets by now. This is bullsh|t. I bet Moss doesn't even know about it. Heck, the media reports it when an NFL player of Moss's stature gets a speeding ticket.

like lebron james.

Which is why it needs to stay open, so they it can be verified as crap. I'm not pretending to be an investigative reporter (and I don't think anyone else here is either) but it's better if the Team wakes up tomorrow and hears of a discredited story (that was run to ground by a legion of dedicated fans) than of an unsubstantiated, but potentially true, rumor.

My opinion, anyway.

Re: Just Called the Newsroom at 580AM....

OK, I'll merge and reopen the thread.

Someone locked the thread? That's VERY poor moderation... it's not a thread spreading a rumor, it's a thread discussing the reliability and veracity of a report by a legitimate media source. I expect better of Patsfans.

And ask them why they haven't posted a scanned copy on their website.

I guarantee this will now be reported. It will be reported as a prank at best, but it is controversy, it involves the Pats, and best of all Randy Moss, the Pat that people love to hate.

Get ready for distraction. Hopefully the AP will run it as a small piece on a hick radio station that fell for a practical joke. If not, we are in for a sh|t whirlwind.

Let's hope the NYT etc are better at vetting documents than Dan Rather was.

Rally the troops. I will stand by Moss. He has been convicted of nothing. He has been nothing but classy as a Patriot. I will not believe a word of this until he has been convicted of something in a court. And that doesn't include a restraining order: judges grant them on little evidence just to avoid making mistakes. "What harm if I am wrong, but what a disaster if the girl ends up dead." They issue them just to cover their @sses. My cousin is a lawyer and just tried such a case. He had a rock-solid case that the girl's father was actually stalking the guy, but the judge gave the order, preferring to send it to appellate court rather than make a mistake and end up on the news.

And ask them why they haven't posted a scanned copy on their website.

How often do websites other than the Smoking Gun post police reports? There isn't even a police report in this case.

OK...just got off the phone with the NY Post sports dept.

Told them I was a die hard Jet fan who saw the story posted on JetInsiders...got transferred to the guy working the Jets and Giants part of the sports department for the latest editon coming out tonight at 12 a.m.

never heard of this story...I gave HIM the radio station number and hung up after saying "Go Jets!" like I was hoping this was true.

I'm calling the NY Times next....by tomorrow this story will have been either have been confirmed by Boston and NY news outlets...or debunked.

By the way, it's is VERY SIMPLE to contact ANY major newspaper and their sports department at night...they are all working full tilt toward deadline and EVERY major newspaper has a PUBLISHED phone number on their website.

man, you ok? You had to pretend like you were a jets fan, this is far worse than anything Moss could have done to this woman. I hope you took a shower afterward.

Jesus....I know the article is referring to NFL Randy Moss. My original post was about whether its accurate. Meaning, is it really NFL Randy Moss that's in trouble, or some regular Randy Moss and they got it mixed up.

That's my feeling also. I hope this is debunked once and for all and very quickly.

If we keep fanning the bogus flame it most certainly will hit the media and then reach Moss. You want that at this time? You think a big lawsuit involving Randy Moss will be "fun" to watch, huh? What a freakin' joke.

HOT WATER FOR MOSS?

With a chance for his first Super Bowl appearance only days away and a shot at a huge free-agency payday just around the corner, receiver Randy Moss reportedly has been involved in his first off-field incident since leaving Minnesota.

According to WDBO-AM radio, a temporary injunction has been entered against Moss "for protection against dating violence."

Moss reportedly cannot come within 500 feet of the complaining witness, or use or possess firearms.

The woman who obtained the injunction claims that Moss committed a battery against her, and then refused to allow her to seek medical attention.

A hearing has been set for January 28.

As far as we can tell, Moss has not been arrested and currently faces no criminal charges. Still, it's the last thing that he or the Patriots need as they prepare to continue to build upon a 17-0 record."

Good work. Yikes.

I don't know. But a copy of that document would be gold for the reporter and the station. That would certainly get them the publicity they seek (from a revenue generating perspective).

No need to apologize...
