OT: Ex Patriots QB Joe Milton Released

I was looking at Arizona's roster boy they're wasting TE Trey McBride. What a productive TE: he deserves better.

You know, there's this thing called a roster... and on the roster they have things called "other positions". There's actually guys on the roster that don't actually catch the football. Some of them don't even touch the football. No joke. Then there's a whole other side called defense. They don't even play offense. If they get lucky enough to catch the football, they don't get to keep playing. They leave the field and give it to the offense. Not even kidding. There's there's a 3rd unit; special teams. Some of those guys don't play offense or defense AND they don't get to touch the football either. Wild huh? C'mon, let me teach you about these other parts of the game...

As far as Milton vs Brissett.... Coaches will take the QB who they feel will try to execute their offense to the best of their ability over the QB that is unpredictable every time. It doesn't matter if the unpredictable guy is way more physically gifted.

As far as Milton himself.... I think it has been VERY unlucky for him that he has gotten very lucky in his limited exposure. He constantly makes bad reads, but gets absolutely lucky where a defender trips or a receiver makes a spectacular catch. I remember watching that Bills game and being amazed he hadn't thrown like 20 picks.

Unlucky for him because he doesn't see how lucky he has been. In isolation, his numbers are pretty good. But he is Tebow 2.0. Eventually, that luck will run out. Like Tebow against the Patriots in the playoffs, he is going to get exposed if any team puts him in charge for an extended period of time.

I'm not. I'm saying that one at least tries to follow the gameplan, while the other doesn't. That's all. Clearly, they are both bad.

The difference being the 'game plan' in Arizona is to be bad. As in #1 pick bad so in Biscuit's case as far as the Cards are concerned bad is good and worst would be perfect.

This rumour came without evidence from Curran and Perry. So far as I can tell, it's untrue.

In the interviews he gave around the time of this year's Super Bowl Milton's complaint was that the Patriots had kept Jacoby Brissett as the back-up. It was that that made him feel "disrespected", not rivalry with Maye.

That makes a lot more sense.

I have heard others say the same thing as Curran and Perry. Bedard just said it again yesterday. Bedard said his inside sources say he is "not a good dude" and they couldn't get rid of him fast enough.




Whether or not he thought he was better than Maye, he does have an over inflated self worth and he clearly is a problem in the locker room because two teams gave up on him despite showing a lot of talent.

Based on the talk about him from legitimate sources, his NFL career could be done at least for a while. He might have to go to the CFL show he has grown up and then try to get back into the league in a few years after he cleans up his reputation. Assuming he can.

Milton was an absolute turd and should've been cut immediately after the game against the Bills.

That's kind of the dichotomy of a good quarterback. You HAVE to believe you're good enough to be the star. But you also have to recognize how to be a leader and be a good teammate.

Good QB thinks this about competing against Brissett: "I am way better than this guy. But I got a bunch I could learn about how he approaches preparing and playing the game."

I'm somewhat surprised Will Levis hasn't landed on someone's PS yet - Tommy D hasn't done too much to impress me this pre-season although I know he's deemed good at emulating the opposing QB in practices for our defense

Seems to me with Levis clearing waivers he might be a worthwhile addition to our PS as we don't have anyone with game experience to come in for Maye if he goes out - and with Levis, Maye certainly won't be looking over his shoulder.

I'm somewhat surprised Will Levis hasn't landed on someone's PS yet - Tommy D hasn't done too much to impress me this pre-season although I know he's deemed good at emulating the opposing QB in practices for our defense

More time is more time - I'm not sure the record is solely on his shoulders either, but regardless, all things being equal, DeVito's skills portraying the opposing team's QB are themselves valuable. Levis is a guy who is better to have on your shadow roster if there's a major injury bug that hits. He's not been signed to anyone's PS squad yet but we've seen in past years teams can get desperate for a QB.
