made from watching the TV feed, have yet to watch replay (don't think I want to)

-really uninspiring effort, by players who had to have understood they are hanging by a thread to even make the PS, never mind the 53 man roster. my pet peeve, missed tackles, were front and center.

-my camp binkie, B Morton, took a couple of steps back last night in my opinion. it wasn't the int's per se. but the bad reads/decisions, that has me thinking a roster spot may be too valuable with this roster to house 3 QB's.

-even with a new holder, Borregales was money. Haak also looks like he will be ok if Barringer is not ready.

-the Pats back 7 looked lethargic, a step too slow, and over matched by Gabriel. tell me Bobby Wagner does not inject some life into this defense immediately. you put Spillane and Wagner out there, with Elliss and OB in a back up role, and this defense is simply much better and much deeper, albeit more expensive.

-I again saw Jacas lose the edge a couple of times. Imo, that will keep him off the field in the regular season, and it would appear the team will need him to contribute right away.

-I am not going to get too excited about Williams beating back up CB's, but it is nice to see. I also thought Dixon made a case for a PS spot.

-I understand no 1st team players were on the field, but the Pats defensive pressure on Gabriel was non existent.

-I can't remember a preseason where not only the starters, but arguably the teams top 25-28 players, did not take a single snap in any of the games. I assume joint practices make the games less meaningful, but it's an interesting decision by Vrabel.

-I think H Haskins can be that Jennings type fill in RB from the PS if needed. he seemingly is strong between the tackles and can grab some yards after contact. But I still see Larison offering more simply with his passing game ability. I still have Larison in that 3rd RB spot.

-from my recollection, no injuries to report, perhaps other than Gonzo's feelings. I assume we see some cut downs and additions from other teams coming and going. the back end of the roster certainly could use something. I hope Wagner is seriously considered

I agree with everything: I think we could go in with Two TE's with our Tackle Depth. Also Two QB's if we want.

Good thoughts. Despite an ugly game last night, I still feel that this patriot team is primed to have a very good season. They face may be their toughest test of the year week one it’ll be interesting to see how that goes but regardless, it’s a very long season and I expect this team to improve throughout I will be watching the roster the next couple weeks to see if they bring in any veterans or cut down guys to improve depth.
Crownover sure looks like an NFL tackle to me.

not for nothing, presumed CB depth Woods and Vildor simply looked really bad. were they butt hurt because they played and were not allowed to sit as roster locks? regardless, they played really poorly
Muma in my opinion over the course of 3 preseason games, has played himself off the team. maybe he can redeem himself on the PS, but he had a great opportunity to be the 3rd or 4th LB on the team, and **** his pants on the field

If Woods and Vildor respond to being told they are on the bubble by playing like crap they are not long for this league

Ehh… vanilla schemes, a lot of zone last night, no pressure or pass rush. It’s easy for CB’s to look bad through no fault of their own. Prunty and Vildor are still the 4th or 5th corners IMO.

The coaches have a better idea who performed, both in joint practices and preseason where mostly vanilla packages were used. I think the backup job will be Obiazor and either Muma or Britt. All three guys could improve in the system and improve like Elliss did over the course of last season.

Many of the poor plays fans here are attributing to ILB’ers were the result of crappy DL play in front of them that allowed a jailbreak. Vrabes ILB’ers are small by design, it’s not hard to overwhelm them if the first line of defense is nonexistent.

missed tackles by a CB are not the fault of the DL

true

I think that Woods had no interest in doing well.

On the other hand, I do think that Vildor is trying. He needs more work. Also, he may be better if he plays with our one's.

Seems like a league wide trend, but the Pats took it to an extreme this year.
Even Tom Brady played at least a little in pre-season games every year (lots of changes since then of course)
As long as the starters are ready to go on Sept 9 it's all

IIRC there were 34 players inactive for the last preseason game last night.

I wonder if some of the lack of enthusiasm among those playing was just because they didn’t have the night off and could see their chance of making the roster was probably already determined. Of course playing down to those expectations becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Playing any starter would inject life into that dogshit play last night.

How old is Wagner? Any gas in the tank, tread left on those tires?
