Is it time to sign a backup veteran IOL or two!!!

I think Prunty has looked like a solid #4 corner and Vidor one of the better #5's we've had.

So I guess we disagree.

#6 is up in the air, but how many teams have 6 NFL level corners?

So who's our #3 Outside CB? If you want to anoint Vildor & Prunty as the #s 4 & 5 OCBs then I can somewhat live with that; but there's no way in hell that either of those two, or any of the others, is a #3 on a Legit contender. We need One. More. Vet. OCB. Here.

Backup Center is the bigger issue. GVR can fill-in at RG if need be.
If GVR is still on it, his experience should help back up across the whole IOL. I presume Brown is 2nd on the C depth chart and GVT 3rd, GVT is back up RG, and Brown 3rd. LG backed up between them.

In terms of C experience. Wilson hasn't yet started at NFL game at C, but Ben Brown played 10 games at Center in 2024 when Andrews was injured and was a college C. I agree GVT is much less experienced at C than G, he had 300 snaps at C in 2022 and 2024 due to injuries, compared to 4800 at RG and 1700 at LG. I'd say he is the emergency C.

Center experience is now 3 deep, providing Wilson transitions well, Brown recovers from injury and GVT holds up.

Is your concern more about Wilson, Brown or GVT? You thinking they need a 10th OL who is a specialist C?

Why not?

This is how you develop a roster and see what you have.

As things progress if both are unable to fill the role they can search for a vet like they did at guard, but for now both Prunty and Vildor show enough to be given the chance for 3rd/4th outside corner.

I know you like HOFers for position backups, but as you look at other teams in the NFL it is what it is.

My concern is that Brown won't be available when the regular season begins. If he isn't then they need to find somebody with NFL experience after Cut-Down Day. Going to Seattle with only Wiiilson & GVR in front of Maye doesn't give me the warm & fuzzies.

You won't get a better backup at cutdown time than vanRoten.

Crownover should be an amazing test of the "arm length is what makes an offensive tackle" theory. If biology is destiny, his rise should be meteoric.

The much-maligned Will Campbell theory was that we'd rather have a T-Rex with versatility than a jacket-size (arm length) hero of an OT. Of course, both are needed, and then some. It's also not fair to compare the value of a top-10 pick with a guy you get at 190-something. I mean, what good ever came from pick 190 something? Oh yeah.

Final observation, ultimately, there are lots of paths to success. Everybody had Campbell going at the top of his draft class, so if wing span/arm length is determinative, we're not the only team that had no idea of that fact.

Sorry, I know nobody's arguing the arm length thing right now, and also (full disclosure,) I've asked the wing span question myself. What's cool with having Crownover on the team is the ability to compare "The Prototype" to the technical exemplar guy.

I'd really like a bounceback year for Campbell.

The moment Campbell gets beat, it will all be brought up again.

and he will, of course. And also of course, we will be incapable of waiting past 1 injury-plagued year to declare him a bust. Fingers crossed. He might be good. When healthy and with some coaching, he might surprise us to the upside.

I think he will be fantastic by year 3.

From your fingers to God's monitor. I think we've got PTSD about draft busts, and I also think it's just silly to think that we can know how he did, judging by how he played on a torn knee ligament. You have to wonder how that's okay... and naturally, I go from "it's okay, he was actually playing injured" to "hold on, that just means it's systemic!"

My guess is that is what Vrabel is planning to do. If you want to feel warm and fuzzy, maybe a scotch on the rocks?

I'm Irish, so make that a Jameson if you please...

After that first game, however, I might have to do something more like this:
