It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I went and watched a replay of the game, looking specifically at some players/positions of interest. These are some of things I missed from watching the game in person Thurs night;
-simply said, Devito was not accurate, and did not show the requisite arm strength on a few throws. I saw him 2 times in practice so far this summer, and thought his arm was plenty strong. will be interested to see if anyone has anything on some of his throws. I also liked how he moved in some rolling pocket looks.
-Hudson playing the interior is interesting. really athletic player. new spot. would allow him versatility at a number of spots if he can pull it off. unfortunately, he looked lost in the game. work in progress for sure.
-Pats LB's gave up some long runs vs the Colts. Pats mostly with 2nd and 3rd team players on the field, but Muma was on the field for many of these long runs. and in the run lanes. I continue to believe the team will need a vet ILB
-Britt had a couple of plays that resulted in a fumble and tackle for loss. Colts game is really my first looks at him. he moves better than I thought. can he cover anyone?
-I liked what I saw from both Lomu and Jacas. both need some reps and will make rookie mistakes. but to my eye, the talent is undeniable. similarly with Raridon, I liked the route running and the effort to block. if he can get stronger and not lose any speed/athleticism, I believe he will be a real asset
-Larison was disappointing carrying the ball. no way around it. he does not seem to be an nfl RB
-last years rookies also caught my eye. Swinson is a different player than last year. I think he contributes this year. Bryant I believe is on the team, and will have a Lowe type role.
-Barringer impressive. coverage on punts and KO's not impressive
He can kick the ball to Boston on a kickoff. That's what the coaches are telling him to do.He went through this last year. His kickoffs were sad too.
It's almost like he has to build his leg strength back from the offseason. It seemed on the misses he was trying to boom the ball too hard like he felt his leg wasn't strong enough.
I am looking for a back up QB to either be a vet with another set of eyes and ears helping the starter. or, a young guy with a lot of physical talent that needs some time to mature and learn.DeVito has been much praised for his performance in practices from the start of the season. I am going to assume that the praise was based on the facts of his performance in that setting. In the first pre-season game, there were issues of innacuracy, a few moments - a few - where he looked a little lost.
He is a back-up quarterback. This was the first preseason game. You were expecting Elway in his prime?
All this handwringing over DeVito's performance is of the kneejerk, drama-seeking variety. He is a a backup quarterback, and as such he is fine, maybe even, based on his overall body of work this year, significantly better than fine.

Quoting Phil Perry without attribution are we? Tsk tsk. Phil is the best scribe on the scene without question. In this instance, however, I disagree with him and therefore, apparently, I disagree with you. It happens.I am looking for a back up QB to either be a vet with another set of eyes and ears helping the starter. or, a young guy with a lot of physical talent that needs some time to mature and learn.
right now, Devito appears to be neither
I watched him "live" in practice 2 times this summer, and he seemingly had enough arm (and legs)
I didn't see the arm strength or accuracy Thursday night
