At some point something has to give.

They can’t keep paying salaries like this.
sure they can

The limits are set by how much is paid to the NFL for their product. The players negotiate a percentage and other terms. Limits to individual players is negotiate between the teams and the union.

There is no limit in sight.

I endured in my youth when the Pats were one of the worst sports franchises in all of professional sports, not just the NFL, and I ultimately was richly rewarded.

Now, if the Pats were a sad sack I could easily walk away, and the out of control salaries are one reason.
Agree with the first part. The second part I agree with but only if ticket prices come down because of lower salaries. Otherwise the players don’t get rewarded but the billionaires keep padding the coffers

Players salaries are broadly tied to club revenue (there are a few carve outs). Legally player salaries go up and down as revenue goes up and down.

The way the NFL is set up nowadays you can buy a Championship. See LA Rams not many moons ago.

How can a team buy a championship?

Asking for the Jete, errrr I meant a friend, yeah asking for a friend.

A team cannot buy a championship, at least not in the literal, Miami Marlins 1997 fashion... What it can do is mortgage its future by trading multiple early-round draft picks for established, more-expensive players and help pay for those players by gutting its middle-class in favor of rookies, UDFAs, and unemployed vets all playing for their minimum. What the Lams have shown is that this can be a viable strategy if the right HC/QB combo & a competent-enough FO are still in place, then the bad times don't have to last that long...

Dude loses them football games. Crazy. Zay Flowers, nice player, but thinks he's Jerry Rice.

Just wanted to add that a team can also sign big-time UFAs as well, obviously. The method of paying for them remains roughly the same, however, so that team again has to be confident in both their college and pro scouting departments to be able to fill the rest of the roster...

The Patriots brass really liked him the year we selected Gonzo that I remember. They spent a lot of time with him at the Shrine practices. I don't get why you're knocking him he's been a good young WR.

It may be time to discuss prospects in the ‘27-‘28 drafts…

?? Pats just traded a #1 pick for a guy who is supposed go deep like Forrest Gump on steroids. WR Cult be like, "No Days Off! We only have 20 WRs on the 90-man roster. We need bodies."

I wish nothing but **** Butkus nightmares for you m'fers.
