They have done far better rounds 6-7 (Edelman, Boutte, Douglas) than rounds 1-4 total.

Just an abysmal ROI.
And even then. That’s only 3 receivers over the last 17 years, and Boutte/Douglas were in the same draft. So they hit on 3 receivers overall the last 17 years.

Malcolm Mitchell was a hit.
Shame injuries ended his career so quickly.

I would think Worthy and Rice are the top two in KC, but you gonna be you
Thornton is starting in three WR sets, but you have a point to make on patsfans so the truth is malleable.

Rice was also in jail so he missed all the offseason workouts. Now he’s coming off a knee injury… he’s doing his best to work himself out of the NFL.

I don't think it is the predraft work.
I think it is the offense, the coaching and at times the QB
How do you pass on AJ Brown and DK Metcalf and take Harry ahead of them?

That is predraft 100%.

the only truth I mention is that it would appear that TT is behind Rice and Worthy.
KC seemingly would also be open to another WR. interesting spot for Boutte or Pop or Hollins

Taking Polk in the 2nd round was an abomination. Pure stupidity.
EVERYONE rated him as a 2nd round pick. He was a consensus top 64 pick.

The season hasn’t even begun yet. Do you know something the rest of us don’t?

Maybe, but a prediction based on hypotheticals doesn’t erase KC’s current depth chart or that they just re-signed Thornton to another 7.4M show me contract.

They clearly liked what they saw from him last season and want to see more. He’s hardly a bust like Polk.

“Everyone” is one of those words people use when they liked the pick and now regret the bust outcome.

Harry is officially ancient history - 7 drafts and several QB's & HC's ago.

The way I look at Polk, the miss on McConkey, and other mistakes of the past few years is that we needed the back to back 4-13 seasons to reset. Had Polk succeeded or had we taken McConkey, there probably wouldn't have been a SB last year or be in prime position this year. We've successfully navigated the troubled waters, and the mistakes contributed to that.

"yeah but Joe Milton is great!" (from by former posting pal) DAP

no. do you? yet you maintain TT is the starting WR, when he clearly had been behind the other two

Harry was such a colossal bust that he put the final nail in Brady's Patriots career. If they had drafted AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, or Deebo, the Brady to Tampa thing NEVER happens.

Might just be the most impactful bust in NFL history.

I will always think of Polk posting the video of him doing "speed" work and drills and just how incredibly slow he looked. Same reaction I had when I saw Harry running through drills in his first week of training camp. Just a glaring lack of foot speed.

That Harry pick hurt us in so many ways. I think Brady stays here another couple years and we would have stayed in the Super Bowl mix each of those years if Bill took one of those other receivers in 2019.

Three WR sets he’s starting. If Rice misses the start of the season he’s starting… possibly beyond that if he plays well.

The whole point of this thread is bemoan the Polk bust and the post I originally responded to bemoaning the last two decades.

Thornton isn’t a bust if he’s playing well… now is he.

But it’s more important for you to race to disagree with Wozzy because he lives rent free in your head than be correct.

I guess it should be pointed out now how I said the Polk draft pick sucked and you argued it was good. Laughable…

TT caught 48% of his targets
he averaged 1.4 rcpts per game
he had 3 drops
he is an option at the 4th or 5th option, or 6th, for teams.
until KC adds, he is next man up in that 3rd 4th slots

interesting how you denigrate Boutte all over this forum, and play up TT
have an agenda much Wozzwald?

TT played substantially less than Boutte. He walked into a crowded WR room.

He was also led the NFL in yards per reception with 23.1… so by your metrics he was better than Boutte.

I haven’t denigrated Boutte, I just haven’t overrated him to the Nth degree like you and others have.

Tyquan is starting for the Chiefs this year.

Kyle Williams is an entirely different regime, he starts a new page and is already looking competent.

Thornton is not starting with the Chiefs this year. At least not yet. ESPN and other sports sites has him listed as a starter. But the Chiefs do not.

And if he does start, it isn't necessarily because he is starter worthy. It is because other than Rice and Worthy, he is the only WR on the Chiefs' roster with more than three career receptions in the NFL. The Chiefs have really set up Mahomes for failure with his receiving corp. Hell, they didn't even draft a WR until the 5th round. It is worse than some of the years with Brady having nothing.

I fully expect the Chiefs to add a veteran receiver before the start of the season. It may be Diggs if he doesn't go to Washington. Hell, they might trade for Boutte. Although I expect Wolf to ask for a premium to trade in conference especially to a team that is in Super Bowl contention like the Chiefs.

he is a starter until Wozzy says he isn't
