2026 Red Sox Thread

Sweep of the Dodgers.

I can't say I am impressed by the Dodgers play style. So lazy and uninspired.

You gotta believe it was a bad series for them. Red Sox were much crisper in their play. LA certainly did not look unbeatable

28-5! Most recent streak that I remember topping that was Detroit going 35-5 at the start of 1984. And the Sox still could equal it

21-4 in July. 26-5. This is the 1914 Braves.
Or dare I say, the 1978 Yankees. When the Sox had a 14.5 game lead, they played .500 the rest of the season while the Yankees played .800 ball and over 50 games allowed them to catch the Sox. Bucky F'n Dent.
I do like the 1914 Braves analogy better.
Safe to say the Red Sox are the team nobody wants to face right now.

Dodgers remind me of the 2001 Mariners, the team that won 116 games and coasted during the season only to get beat 4-1 by Yanks in ALCS. They thought the World Series was an afterthought. Compare that to the 2018 Sox who scrapped their way to 108 wins and continued fighting in the playoffs (18 innings game 3 Eovaldi and even a loss was seen as a win).
If the Dodgers do win it this year, I think that will be the strongest argument for a hard salary cap as small markets will feel they can't compete.

A CAP isn't needed. I thought it was, but it's not. Too many injuries in a baseball season and hitting is the hardest thing to do in any sport. Period. So you can't just put a the cheapest guy in every day. It will screw with record books etc etc. What they DO need to do is get rid of deferred, or the amount of deferred money in contracts. They already have a luxury tax, maybe make that more punitive. I don't know much but I don't think a CAP is a great thing. A floor works though too.

So, gents, trade Arias for the Nats' shortstop, or not?
Can't play defense well. Defense becomes more important the further your season goes. No vote for me.

Hell no. Arias will be twice the player Abrams is very soon.
Abrams very good offensively. Can't play defense. Arias does both.
Arias and Eyanson are both untouchable imo.
Everyone else is fair game.
The SS I want is Lopez in Miami.
Dudes hitting way over .300, has some pop and steals bases. Plus hes an excellent defender
