Why not 7 WR's on the opening day roster?

I know it’s an alien concept to you that we don’t know everything, but the coaching staff knows more than any of us does.

They want to win games now and in the future. They also need to do it within a budget. The guy who best fits that might be the younger player who is still cheaper and still developing, over the veteran who has shown us what he is and has been consistent about it.

I’ve stated my opinion about it. You have yours. Won’t be the first time either one of us has been wrong, lol. Or it might be moot if they decide to keep both.
Not sure what your first sentence is supposed to mean. Did the coaching staff tell you chism is better even though they put Douglas on the forks ahead of him?
The difference is 2.6 mill. Do you believe a team makes a cost cutting decision to make a roster choice because of 2.6 million of cap? 2.6 mill doesn’t keep the better player from being kept.
You act as if a guy who made a bunch of big plays to “show us what he is” is behind a guy who hasn’t.

Anyone who gives opinions about football players is wrong a lot. I’m surprised you feel that’s something that need to be mentioned.

It sounds like Pop is having a great camp so there's that. IF he figures out McDaniels Offense from the Slot: we'll have one of the deeper WR groups; anything to make Maye better.

Pop having a great camp is routine. Then the season starts…

At this point “having a great camp” is all but meaningless.
I agree it would be good if he can help but he isn’t one of the top 3.
We are not running a Welker offense. We are trying to get the ball up the field
While one way to use “the slot” is to bunch the formation and have a little quick guy run off a pick for a short route, that’s far from the only way, and not a bog part of what we will do.
The value of being in the slot is you can be in motion and it’s hard to jam. Many teams, including us, use slot receivers to get free runs for intermediate and deep routes.
We are going to line up Brown, Boutte and Doubs in 3 receiver sets. It doesn’t matter which one is aligned inside or outside or which side of the field the are on they can all run the routes they run best with less hindrance from the slot.

Look at my offseason projected 53 man depth chart… I had 7 WR’s on there. But I also said it was unlikely.

It could happen, guys like Hollins have played special teams. You’ll need some guys who play more than just WR, especially on game day. Otherwise they’ll carry another defender who can.

IMO It's Tanner VS the 7th WR for the final offensive roster spot, and right now Tanner might be winning.

It doesn't matter if they play special teams. Neither will be dressed for several weeks, if at all.

The strategy should be more tilted to keeping the most valuable pieces, rather than keeping a JAG just because you feel you need a backup who won't dress anyway. You can then stack the PS with close to these level players at every position.

We aren’t keeping 7 WRs.
You literally would be keeping JAGs if you did that.
Beyond Brown, Doubs and Boutte, with the exception of Williams for potential, they are all JAGs

Second year with a Real OC after the AVP experiment, that should be finally out of his system. That Mayo year is like those Covid years a void or gap in my head.

Over the season they would miss two of the players you consider JAGs.

We should be able to get Chism on our PS. No NFL Team values him as much as us...he's our new Bam Childress.

IF Tanner Arkin is already running with the Ones: our TE depth after Henry and Raridon sucks. Tanner should make our PS until further notice let's not get carried away.

I generally agree.

However, Hollins isn't a JAG. He helps the Offense, especially in the red zone.

He is the epitome of a JAG. He's a journeyman who averages 2 TD's per season.

It does.

Vrabel is trying out his options for #3 TE. He may keep 3 or not. He may pick up someone on waivers. Another team might indeed be letting go a better #3 TE that Arkin, or not.

Hollins is the definition of a JAG
Hollins had 4 red zone catches last year.
Out of 47 Maye completed.

That brings him to 21 in his 127 game career.

Maybe… they could also slide Tanner onto the PS and nobody is likely to come poach him.
