Mac Jones Says Patriots Offense Was Run by 3 People and nobody knew who was in charge

There is definitely no certainty BB would’ve drafted Maye.
The folks that defend Bill now say he would’ve picked Maye….because Maye has been successful and is on trajectory for Stardom.
If Maye was a bust, I highly doubt the BB apologists would be arguing BB would’ve drafted him.

No, then they would have used the clip of Belichick dissing the pick as proof that he would never have drafted him.

Regarding Maye, there is no need to speculate what Belichick thought. He gave his scouting report of Maye on TV after the pick was made. Not positive….

Why wasn't Drake Maye ruined by Jerod Mayo?

Oh yeah, because he has character to go along with insane talent.

Mac sucks. Mac sucked his rookie season from week 13 forward when conditions were perfect.

The "Mac would've been good if not for" is the dumbest take since Milli Vanilli are the best pop band in the world.

Mac was good his rookie year
Mac was good last year
not great, but good.
I also believe Mac was injured more than let on in year 2 (and 3) as well as last year.

Also there’s no “may” about it. Bill is not a good coach without Tom Brady and the results back that up in Cleveland, NE and now in college.

What happened to Jones is something we would all laugh at if he was drafted by the Jets.

Helps that Maye is better than Jones at every aspect of the position.

he is
but Mayo did Maye a huge disservice with the staff around him, the OL protecting him, and the offensive weapons around him.
I think it is safe to assume if Mayo was not replaced, we would still be wondering what we have with Maye

Mac fell off a cliff after week 13 as a rookie.

Week 14 bye
*Colts: 2 interceptions, 57% completions
*Bills: 2 interceptions, 43% completions
*Jaguars: No turnovers
*Dolphins: 1 interception, 1 fumble
*Bills: 2 interceptions, 63% completions

This ^ sucks.

The team went 1-4 after the bye, Mac threw 7 interceptions, completed 59% of his passes at 6 yards per reception and fumbled it once… 8 turnovers in five games.

Mac started hot in Jacksonville and fell off a cliff.

Mac started hot in San Francisco before falling back to Earth.

Mac sucks.

Worse than just his physical limitations, his personal character and mental toughness are nonexistent.

If he was any good he'd be starting somewhere now. Starting QB's are in short supply, there's more jobs available than actual starters. Starters aren't sitting on benches. Laughable...

he most likely would be a starter somewhere this season if he was not already under contract
regardless, he played well last year and his rookie year

if Mac was any good, another team would have traded for him.

He's in the final year of his 49ers deal. He took backup money because he looked like a backup on NE, on Jacksonville and finally in San Francisco.

He was a first round pick, so he's a bust.

other teams would have traded for him if San Fran agreed to a trade
he will be a free agent after the season, so time will tell
he was a 1st rd draft pick with a 2nd or 3rd rd grade

Patriots Have Explored Multiple QB Options This Year, Yet No One Else Has Emerged
Ian Logue
Heading into the bye week, the question everyone continues to wonder is, who will be under center in two weeks against the Giants with seven weeks left to play in the 2023 season?

Yes, BB failed the QB position test.

Bullsht…. if Mac was good enough teams would have bent over backwards to trade for him. He wasn’t…

bust

I give Bill a ton, but not all, of the credit with Brady's career
But go on down the line on how things were handled aside from Brady.
Cassell and Vrabel for a 2nd?
JimmyG trade? (fleeced)
Alienating Brady with no back up plan
What about Stiddy?
Bringing in Cam?
Drafting Mac and then ruining him?

yikes

Yeah, Mac doesn’t have it in between the ears and will never reach that next level.

However, I do think he was put in a bad situation in New England. I don’t think he ever becomes a good QB anyway though.
