Spain first finalist to Toilet Jersey

They just didnt let France do anything

Spain vs Argentina would be worse than getting hit by radiation

Damn.

I expected a knock down drag out game tied @ 90 minutes going into OT. France had more total shots, shots on goal and basically equal ball possession @ 49% to SP 51%. They got blanked. Spain has looked like the best team down the stretch.

Im planning to go down to the Power and Light district tomorrow for the ARG vs ENG game. Should be off the hook since both teams are training in KC and their fans are like ants everywhere. Plus, all the American fans that dont have a dog in the fight, but are soccer fanatics too.

I’m amazed the stats looked so evenhanded.
From my subjective perspective, until spains 2d goal (when they mostly just did keep away and burn the clock), France was but rarely in the last 20m of Spain side, but Spain was constantly& almost exclusively in Frances half. Didn’t seem anywhere near even matched.

German commentators were also shocked, had predicted 2-1 for France. They said that Spain D was a stone wall that France couldn’t figure out.

Why have VAR for flopping, but not for the hand ball on the SP first goal?

Cause it wasn’t one primarily.

From my broadcast (German) they said it was VAR checked and cause his arm was tight to his body that he did all he could and incidental contact is NOT a handball. They showed replay twice in slow mo and explained why it wasn’t and why the 11m was a no-brainer call even though there was clearly no intent by the French player ( just bad situational awareness and bad luck).

[edit: I freely admit I know nothing about what posting, but am just parroting what 4 commentators with 30+-years avg pro experience stated.]

I again refer to the inexact NFL analogy.
NFL Holding or PI isnt anything like flopping in soccer.

Some holding is allowed, but it cannot be blatant and reckless. Some officiating crews have a zero tolerance policy and others a more liberal approach. Flopping in soccer begins in minute # 1 and its to try and draw a foul or favorable treatment the same as Embelo. The Referees do nothing about it and the clock keeps going. The falling down occurs the whole game numerous times without punishment.

Embelo already had a yellow card and he knew the rules regarding what would occur if he drew a 2nd yellow card. He obviously did not fear being bounced from the game and putting his team at a disadvantage.

That is how serious FIFA is about ending flopping.

If VAR deemed it a hand ball they would've called the head ref to take a look at it. Yamal had his arms tucked in usually those aren't called
Also if I understand rules correctly: EVERY 11m called by on-field ref is AUTOMATICALLY VAR-Reviewed.

AI Overview

In soccer, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system is exclusively used to review four match-changing categories of decisions where a "clear and obvious error" or a serious missed incident has occurred: [1, 2]
  • Goals: VAR checks for offenses by the attacking team—such as offsides, handballs, or fouls—that take place in the immediate build-up to a goal. [1, 2]
    • Penalty Decisions: Replays are used to confirm whether a penalty kick should or should not have been awarded, and whether the foul occurred inside or outside the penalty box. [1, 2]
    • Direct Red Cards: VAR reviews possible straight red card offenses—such as serious foul play, violent conduct, or denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. First and second yellow cards are generally not reviewed unless they involve mistaken identity. [1, 2, 3]
    • Mistaken Identity: VAR ensures the referee gives a card (yellow or red) to the correct player when a foul has occurred. [1]

Clearly, I respectfully disagree. As someone who is primarily a soccer fan but also lived in the Boston area for 22 years and was a Patriots season ticket holder during the period from 1984 to 1990, I see things a bit differently. The only NFL games I watch now involve the Patriots as I don't find NFL football very interesting per se. Yes, I do understand the rules, although subtleties absolutely do escape me.

I'm sure we'll be trying, but Tuchel wasn't happy with England's shape against Norway. He seems to be having difficulty getting them to play his preferred way. The Spanish team is very together- surprisingly so for an international side. That's a big part of their success. They play more as a club team than as a national team just brought together for a few days or weeks at best.

That was excellent play on their part. I can't stand Mbappe as a player, ruined PSG and now Real Madrid. Great talent. Terrible teammate, or so it appears.

TBH, having to choose between England, VARgentina, and Spain is kinda like having to pick a winner among the LOLphins, JEST, and Bill-dos.

RN I'm rooting for the Meteor to do its job during Bieber's halftime show.

ARG-ENG Quote the griffe Match.
I Wonder if the USA ref is regretting lettingvthem Play at the beginnibg.

After These First two Yellows MAYBE it will Calm down. Otherwise it could be 9 vs 9 in the 89th minute.

England stoped playing at 60' and just watched Argentina doing whatever they wanted

I want to jump off a cliff lol
