OT: The 2026 World Cup Thread

What a game by Brazil.

Japan had 3 chances all game. Their goal came from a horrible ball to the middle with no defense, but other than that, they barely attacked.

Vini has finally come alive for Brazil, but is bruno Guimaraes who is the motor of the team. Showing he is top top class. Also Rayan is going to be a star

Ancelloti also deserves so much praise. His changes in the second half put a good Japan team completely against the wall

We are coming for the 6th
Rumo ao hexo!

And the last goal by Brazil was a thing of beauty.

Europe has underperformed so far this cycle. Italy didn’t make the tournament and Germany gone before the octofinals. Spain has been so-so (but may get better each round). The Dutch always look ready to win the WC after the group stage. France looks tough, England not so much. France, Spain and Argentina look like the best picks now.

Spain relies too much on a clearly hobbled Yamal
France is tough tho

And I'm dead. Crowd was insane. Couldn't have asked for more from a match

It was the correct call though
prevented goalie from going to his second post
Right call...maybe.
There will be controversy, just wait.

Spain seems nowhere near the team they were. Do have a history of playing themselves into form in major tournaments

Best game of the day ends in PKs
down go the Dutch

Well, I guess I really don’t know jack; those last 2 games were a surprise to me.

I figured Neuer was going to screw (let down) the Germans in the NEXT round. He didn’t really screw up this game, although I think 8 years ago he mighta got to that one header ( moved earlier in anticipation).
But not playing a younger goalie ( my opinion) or putting other dynamic players out there earlier/to start the game (analysts opinions) appear to be early criticism of their coach.
Euro teams all looking like crap to me, except maybe France. Spain lackadaisical, POR & ENG seem like untrustworthy one-man shows. It might be good for WC to see an Africa team in final 4 ( Ivory Coast or Morocco, dark horse egypt). Who knows. Seems more open this year.

Now, for something completely different...

I cant believe there is a MP video I dont ever remember watching.

Thanks, the university of wallamaloo was a better philosophy joke, but live the lineups.

I’d say France looks much better than all the other teams. Yes, anything can happen during an elimination game. But they have depth, quality, and a steamroller look.

South Korea is already eliminated? F dat

France and Mexico should win today? All the betting is coming in on them.

Is Ecuador any good?

Mexico? Mexico is up and down, there is no way to predict Mexico's performance.

I should have put money on MEX and FRA.

FRA could have scored 8 goals. They were down at the SWE goal all day. Mexico is on a roll. EQU had opportunities, but never got it together.

The USA team is 5 - 1 favorites. That seems too rich.

Someone from the Cabo Verde team claimed that they can beat Argentina.
