Nothing surprising there, probably the most common score in soccer. The surprise would have been if either team had scored a goalSpain - CV 0-0 draw. Wow
The Rankings also really don't mean that much they just give you a rough guide it's almost like NFL power rankings levels of meaning, if you can string a bunch of wins in a row you'll climb the rankings it's much easier for someone like Iran playing in Asian Qualifying to go 10 games unbeaten playing against Cambodia and the likes and winning qualifying games 10-0 than coming thru European qualifying where the competition is much harder in general. The rankings fluctuate every few days. Just cut to the chase and list them each match for the fans new to the game.
The stadium location is likely mentioned at the beginning, but some folks tune in late.
no it's a real shocker honestlyNothing surprising there, probably the most common score in soccer. The surprise would have been if either team had scored a goal
Kind of opposite games though. Baseball is way too much standing around doing nothing. Soccer is pretty much end to end action for 90 minutes.I really cant see how soccer is going to takeover as the # 1 sport in the US.
If baseball is too boring soccer will never make it.
I kind of agree. Soccer is end to end "movement" for 90 minutes, not end to end "action". Commonly the ball goes back and around the defense or down the side and into the middle and then back again. The ball commonly goes around and back for 2 minutes before going forward in an offensive attack.Kind of opposite games though. Baseball is way too much standing around doing nothing. Soccer is pretty much end to end action for 90 minutes.
That's insane. I didn't watch, did Spain just not show up?historical draw
Cape Verde ties vs Euro champion Spain
From what I read Spain owned the play. Over 70% possession, many shots to 1 shot on goal against. That's insane. I didn't watch, did Spain just not show up?
Yup.Gillette Stadium is being called Boston Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to FIFA rules requiring neutral, non-commercial stadium names and to reference the Greater Boston area where the stadium is located.
FIFA Regulations and Neutral Naming
FIFA mandates that stadiums used in World Cup matches adopt neutral names that do not promote commercial brands unrelated to the tournament. Since "Gillette" is a corporate sponsor, the stadium cannot use its commercial name during the event. To comply with these rules, the venue will temporarily be renamed Boston Stadium for all World Cup
Cape Verde parked the bus so made it difficult to score either way they're getting killed in the media in SpainThat's insane. I didn't watch, did Spain just not show up?
It's like when Iceland tied Portugal in the 2016 Euro.Cape Verde parked the bus so made it difficult to score either way they're getting killed in the media in Spain
Actually one of the attractive features about soccer is you do know the time a match is going to take. 90 minutes plus total 5-10 minutes injury time plus whatever halftime is - matches finish in about 2 hours guaranteed. In the knockout portion only can you need extra time (30 minutes and then penalties).I wish they would list the overall ranking by each country and the host stadium where the score is shown.
The length of the game is already a mystery.
Sounds like soccer.
That's why if Iran (20th) played Norway (31st), Norway would be odds on favs to win the game.
5 - 10 minutes is sort of a broad window of time to me.Actually one of the attractive features about soccer is you do know the time a match is going to take. 90 minutes plus total 5-10 minutes injury time plus whatever halftime is - matches finish in about 2 hours guaranteed.
