The Offense is Loaded

Are you saying Drake isn't good?
No, he's not saying that.
He's wondering why @BobDigital would bother ranking "how loaded" offenses without including QBs, as are most of us.

Vikings have a lot of offensive talent, but JJ McCarthy is dogshit, you saw the results of that last year.

Well the thread was about our offense being loaded. In my mind a loaded offense is more about the weapons and supporting cast than the QB. When most people talk about how loaded an offense is or the level of talent in an offense, in general you don't often include the QB in those discussions. It tends to be seen as a separate discussion.
That's a reasonable thought experiment. You aren't suggesting it is the final say in anything, so cool.
I'm surprised there are more team with better all around personnel. Illuminating.

I'd like to see Henderson continue to out carry Stevenson like he did in the regular season. Henderson taking the next step and becoming a full time ball carrier would really make this offense dangerous.

It would really help to push this over the top if we could only acquire a true number 1 receiver. Oh wait……

LET"S BE CLEAR - WE ARE LOADED
We have a very good starting 11 and 8 good backups

Our primary backups are
QB: DiVIto
RB: Stevenson
WR: Boutte, Williams, Douglas
TE: Raridon
OL: Lomu, Brown

IMO, we have only one weakness: a second C/OG backup.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, cares more about the bottom of the roster and the practice squad than you do.

NOW…it’s loaded…

Strengths

  • Sweet feet enable him to climb and redirect against movement.
  • Fluid as pulling guard with a great radar for finding and securing the block.
  • Consistently in position and centering up his run blocks.
  • Has body control and footwork to stay connected to blocks.
  • Punch looks fairly firm, and he's capable of resetting hands when needed.
  • Good slide quickness to mirror spins and counters in pass pro.

Weaknesses

  • Needs to make sure he keeps pad level down off the snap.
  • Will need to hit the weight room and bulk up as an NFL guard.
  • Didn't look as chippy and physical after his move from Frostburg State to Maryland.
  • Allowed opponents off the hook prematurely rather than finishing blocks.
  • Could struggle to redirect power rushers who get into his shoulder.

I agree.

I would note that I do distinguish between backups and bottom of the roster players. Also, I don't pay much attention to the Practice Squad.

I think that backups are very important. Let us look at the example of the OL, this year and last.

LAST YEAR
The backups Lowe and Brown were critical. Many think that the biggest mistake on the OL was to play an injured Campbell instead of Lowe who was playing pretty well.

I would note that the bottom of the roster players were almost invisible: Wallace and Bryant. They were and are prospects who may be good enough to be backups this year, or not.

THIS YEAR
Sure, going from starter Bradbury to starter AVT was a huge improvement.

Going from backup Lowe to Lomu should also be a major improvement.

Finally, the bottom of the roster players may or may not get any reps at all. The competitors for these roster spots are Bryant, Crownover, Wallace, Rizy, Rupcich, and an acquisition TBD. As I said, these players will likely make no impact in 2026.

With 978yds & 7TD's - Rham could become the 3rd best Patriot RB in history in Yards & TD's (surpassing Curtis Martin & Tony Collins, and LG for TD's (34).

But, even if he stays for 2 or 3 years and gets a total of 1800yds & 15TD's more, he'd be the Pats all time Rush leader in both categories. That's insane to think about. I'm rooting for him.
