OT: The 2026 World Cup Thread

That last goal was wild just complete control of the ball like 20 passes and off the out side of the foot
I don’t hang too much on bspn much and this just proves why. I spent 15 minutes on them looking for this video sequence based on your recc and just got kilnsy interviews , fan reactions other side stories and only short snips of only 2 of 4 goals, Reyna’s but only the shot no5 the passes.

Not sure how much energy I will invest looking further as soccer not really my thing until it gets serious (1/4 finals).

I did enjoy reading that the VAR overturned a yellow and reversed it toa FLOPPER!!!!! If the other refs have the guts to stay on that glide path for dive enforcement, soccer could become watchable.

Great performance from the Nats. Pressed their asses off all night. Went with a 3 man back line, which allows them to use their greatest strength, which is their athleticism. Got great performances all the way around. And finished their chances.

I still have concerns about Freese, he's not a world class goalie, and when they do allow chances using this formation they are usually good ones. But the only way they go anywhere in this tournament is by putting up goals, and they won't do that in a 4-4-2.

Reyna didn't earn his way onto this team, but you have to give him creditbforvdeliveringbwhrnbhe had his chance, that was a beautiful goal, and Balogun was a beast.

They could eliminate flopping simply by suspending floppers and not allowing teams to pay them when under suspension. No one is going to take a dive when it costs them $$$$. That was a classic dive, I would have loved to see a red card for it.

I'm so thankful American Football was invented.

If they used the same scoring system football games would end up 4-3, 3-1 etc.... They spend most of the game standing around. There's more action in the first 15 minutes of a soccer game than an entire football game.

USA currently ranked 15th up from 17th after yesterdays game.

Dont they have better uniforms than those pajama tops? # 3 is a playmaker who can really move the ball in tight quarters.

It's the nature of the action that is the difference for me.

To each his own.

I like football, but I love soccer. My high school and the towns around it didn't have enough kids to have football teams and soccer was the dominant fall sport.

I like soccer but I love football. And I'm in the UK .

Spain has a good team.

I used to live in Atlanta. Is the game at Georgia Tech? $350 aint too bad. When the games were announced here the prices started out high as hell. KCMO is a soccer town with a sizeable Hispanic population and younger fans who grew up playing the game.

When Messi played at Arrowhead a couple of years ago, the place sold out 80,000 seats in no time.

Its too bad about Arrowhead because I believe its the best tailgating stadium in the NFL. If you ever get to go. Youre doing right too.
The game I’m going to is at Gillette, England vs Ghana.

Yes, but your buddies Son is in GA and seeing Spain play.

I assume the game is downtown where GT is located.

Watching the Canada and the US games, I was left wondering what NFL players thought of all the flopping and theatrics.

Some of these calls had the player run into his opponent and then the player acts like he is cripple for life. The opponent who he hit gets a penalty.

The NFL is popular yes, but soccer is by far and away the most popular sport in the UK
So tribal. In the NFL it is not unusual for fans from both teams to be standing together and cheering on their team. That would never ever happen at a soccer game. The fans are kept apart and not allowed to mix when in the stadium.

Best the USA has looked under Poch if they keep up this level of play they can make a Semis appearance not impossible depending on the knockout draws
My understanding is if they can win their group, they will have a very favorable path to the quarters. I know that’s looking quite a bit down the road and I didn’t pay attention to the comment enough to know the details, but it could be some good news.

Diving is a big problem in world football. I had my ankle broken in two places playing soccer and believe me you don't roll around on the ground like you were shot. Player's faking injury should be sent off.
