PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
FWIW, I have two friend who are Eagles fans and both of them are upset that the Pats got the best of the trade. They both point to the Waddle trade and they felt that should have been the bar for a trade for Brown. They believe Brown is better than Waddle and deserved more in trade compensation. Neither are happy with the trade.

And both guys tend to be Howie Roseman fanboys. So it was surprising that they didn't praise Roseman for getting a first rounder even if it was in 2028 like most of the Roseman fanboys are doing online and in the media.
They believed Roseman when he said he was getting a 2026 first and second for him.

I'm excited. Glad the pats are maximizing Drake's chances at success. I'm gonna look up some of the better qbs and see what their teams did for them by year 3. Allen, luck, burrow, and Palmer would be interesting to look at.

Mcdaniels, marrone, Hollins, Williams, brown, doubs, Henderson, Gilliam, campbell, Moses, lomu, avt, wilson...etc. a big revamp with some serious capital spent on the O. I like it

Some of the trade scenarios Eagles fans and influencers were coming up with online were ridiculous. The most ridiculous one came from an Eagles influencer with a sizeable following of where he wanted the Pats to trade Christian Gonzalez and a first rounder for AJ Brown. That is how ridiculous the expectations were because they thought teams would be fighting over Brown and Roseman would fleece whoever won.

But the blind worship of Roseman would have a lot of Eagles fans and media types praising Roseman if he traded Brown and the Eagles 2028 first for a condition 2032 Patriots seventh rounder.

1 Super Bowl win and a lucky one at that because they had a very weak opponent.

And here comes the epic collapse from having a team full of old people.

Is this really what you want over the next 10 years?

1 Super Bowl is great, even if lucky, but they are in for a world of hurt coming soon.
Two SB appearances in 10 years is a succcess for most NFL teams, plus, having a 25 year old WR who just caught 129 balls and having just traded for Myles Garrett and becoming the SB favorite, I don't think they'll be falling over. Long term QB is their one big issue.

But how did he pass his physical with shredded fluid-filled knees?!??!
Sometimes you can still play if your leg is teh amputae.

So long as they don't cry or have towels over their heads, I guess.

Whole pre-season last year Perry was saying the Diggs signing was bad. Now of course he'll say this is bad. Meanwhile he's one of the people that would be complaining about how they don't have a true #1 WR
He didn't say he thought it was bad, he just complained a little about the cost. He defintely thought it was a move they should make.

I’ve seen a lot of arguments around the value of a first round pick, pointing at the Rams complete lack of picks and the Patriots complete failure at the end of Bill’s reign.
Another way to look at it.
Teams often trade current picks for future picks one round higher.
A 2026 two is traded for a 2027 one, partly due to the short life cycle of a GM.
So a 2026 three could be hypothetically traded for a 2027 two, and a 2027 two for a 2028 one.
Hypothetically. It’s how they are frequently valued. Individual circumstances can vary.

So a 2028 one and 2027 five is like a 2026 three and 2026 six.
So it’s kinda sorta like trading Raridon and Crownover for Brown.
Who would object to that?
Other than the professional argument clinic employees here. (They could be arguing in their spare time…)

You’d prefer giving up a second? See how many teams might trade a 2028 first for your 2027 second. It happens.

Long term QB is one big issue?

It's THE issue.

When you have a young QB like Maye, you build. When you have an old guy like Stafford, you might trade for a guy like Garrett. But the huge talent depletion from previous years is going to hurt them badly starting next year.

McVay has already shown he's prone to having very bad years when he doesn't have an MVP quality QB.

With Maye, the Patriots should be aspiring to more than 1 SB victory in the next 10 years.

Of course its a risk, that is why AJB was available in the first place. No one is trading us Chase or Jefferson, cause they don't have any risks associated with them and hence no GM in their right mind would try to get rid of them.
This all day

To all the worry warts about that 2028ist Rounder...Remember FA is part of the process...just trust the process.

BTW, it is a class move by Brown to switch his number to 1. Edelman was one of his favorite WRs. So it is clear that he didn't want to take Edelman's number with the Patriots out of respect.

Hopefully we will be adding more players who love being here as much as Brown does.

You also aren't being paid tens of millions of dollars to run on said knee for 17 maybe 21 weeks. Big difference.
These pro athletes receive the best care that can be bought.
