Breaking New England Patriots Team News
Thoughts on a Myles Garrett for Gonzo trade... Gonzo's value won't be any higher...what else would we need to send Cleveland?
Unlikely trade but if it did go down you send em F÷+k all else. Gonzo and thats it.

It’s been a year so it’s hazy to think back, but at the start of last season Douglas was clearly their choice in the slot. After Drake ignored the slot entirely early in the season, Douglas moved out of the starting role. But later in the season Drake and Josh started exploring the slot a little and Demario was more productive in the second half of the 2025 season, both in terms of volume and efficiency.

  • First Half (8 games): 14 receptions, 162 yards, 2 touchdowns, 11.6 yards per reception.
  • Second Half (9 games): 17 receptions, 285 yards, 1 touchdown, 16.8 yards per reception.
Although he scored one fewer touchdown after the midpoint, Douglas nearly doubled his yardage output and significantly improved his yards per catch average in the second half.

The contrast in performance is especially clear when examining big-play capability and first-down conversion rates:

Douglas recorded more than twice as many 20+ yard receptions in the second half and converted 64.7% of his catches into first downs, compared to 42.9% earlier in the season. He was much better in the second half of the season and developed a role as a third and long converter.

He has the most talent for the position, he’s a near impossible cover in space due to his size and explosiveness. He was the only WR who was getting open in the Super Bowl when the game was still a game. They need to train Drake how to exploit the middle of the field and work on his short game more than fix something wrong with Pop.
Some podcast I was listening to (maybe Evan?) suggested that Pop has all the physical attributes you need in the slot while Chism has all the mental attributes - always in the right spot. Also noted that Pop does brilliantly until the pads come on.

That....would be a terrible idea.
You make your secondary significantly worse for a player who's 6 years older.
I'd trade a lot to get Myles Garrett - trading an all-pro cornerback on his rookie contract would not be on that list.

Pop was our leading WR in 2024, he was getting better and better the second half of last season. Drake needs to understand the game better. He’s young, he will. We can track his improvement and progression from his rookie season.

I was listening the the Pats Chat podcast and Doug Kyed was saying that the Eagles can't make the AJ Brown move until AFTER June 1. So, June 2 (the next open media OTA) is the first time AJ could be with the Patriots, if the trade happens fast.
I think it is 49/51% that Pop is on the team/not on the team

Evan and others have made the same comment. They are correct.

Hopefully Larison can the new & improved Burkmeister for us.

Darned good player but $40MM/yr for a man corner when you mostly run zone is worth debating if you can get multiple 1st round picks and then some back.
Where do you get that the Patriots mostly run zone? *SMH*

Patriots OTAs is in the books.Drake Maye: 13/22 INTTommy DeVito: 7/12Rookie CB Karon Prunty intercepted Maye. Good plays in coverage by Charles Woods, KJ Britt, Kindle VildorAndrew Rupcich filled in for Alijah Vera-Tucker at LG. Caleb Lomu got some first-team reps in place of Morgan Moses at RT.EDGE Bradyn Swinson went off with the training staff.

Did MASH unit get hurt at the signing?? I am leery of that signing.
He's still recovering from a Torn Tricep muscle. Helps to read.

Thoughts on a Myles Garrett for Gonzo trade... Gonzo's value won't be any higher...what else would we need to send Cleveland?
No one. Gonzo is 23. Garrett is 30. The Browns would have to send a 1st with Garrett to get the deal done.

We need Dr Frankenstein to put Chisms head on Pop's body.

Anyone notice that Drake was wearing a peach colored jersey during OTA's?

Did his wife mistakenly through it in with the whites?

That might be true but he also mossed Stingley for a deep TD two years in a row.
That’s what I thought I remembered. So if he did that and Stingley was stuck to him like glue I’d say that good for Boutte, right?

Gonzo not at OTAs. Not surprising but again, I would ship his ass out. If I were the Patriots, I ain't interested in paying a CB who has injury concerns 40 million dollars. Let some other team do that.

Freaking Boutte beat Stingley clean in the playoffs. Gonzo shut down a slightly overrated JSN. Yes JSN is slighly overrated and I am more scared of some other WRs in the NFL (Chase, Jefferson to name a couple).

Gonzalez was the hardest CB to throw in football last season, the completion % was under 50%, and he has allowed 1 touchdown in 3 years. He had a shoulder injury his rookie year but played 30-34 regular season and 34-38 including playoffs, he's hardly an injury laden player.

Haeeelllll no.

I dunno if he's overrated, even great WR's have said he has some of the best form they've ever seen, where he never gives the DB an inkling of which way he'll cut. I think it says a LOT that Gonzo shut him down, it means he knows the game damn well.

They ran a ****load of zone in the regular season, close to 70%. The man was a switch-up in the post season.
All that bozo you're interacting with had to do was a quick Google search before replying. For a guy that thinks he knows everything, he doesn't even know the % of coverages his own team runs.

Edit: I thought he was replying to you but it was @UGAPatsfan
