IF they Trade him for anything less than a Fourth: the inmates are running the asylum.Four games last year where he eclipsed 50+ receiving yards. You’re not going to find a huge market for that. If somebody would toss you a 4th for that it’s a no brainer, a 5th is certainly fair.
His catch % was ridiculous last year but the volume was low so he’s been kind of a JAG.
If the team has more interest in improving Kyle Williams and find Mack Hollins more reliable than Boutte is better off elsewhere and better to get something than nothing
Sure, Gonzo is saying something as well. And Gonzo is not??
I get your point: but in Boutte's favor how many 700 or potentially 800yds WR's are avaliable right now?? See timing is everything. Most recent wide receivers to be traded for a 4th round pick
Stephon Diggs 2020 after 1100+ yards
Deandre Hopkins 2020 after 1100+ yards
Amari Cooper 2022 after 850+ yards
You can argue that Boutte is younger but he doesn’t even have a fraction of the top receiver history of any of those guys.
Diggs, Renfro, Deebo, Samuel, Tyreek, Juju,I get your point: but in Boutte's favor how many 700 or potentially 800yds WR's are avaliable right now?? See timing is everything.
Sounds like Boutte may have thrown his “Leephus pitch” a little too late in the game…It's already hard to see how a bidding war breaks out at this point in the year. Teams have spent their money on both FA and draft, and after the draft especially, roster spots are pretty full. Yes, you get to expand the roster, but you are continuously penciling people in for the top 45 and top 53, and if you go into the draft with holes you usually set up your draft to fill in the holes.
Other teams have pretty full rosters and salary caps, and know looking at us we too are in that boat, so it's in their own best interest to just wait and see if Boutte is even on our team after cut-down day. If so, they definitely don't have to lose any draft capital to get him, and can tell him he needs to sign a 'prove it' deal if he wants a roster spot because after cut-down day roster spots are precious.
As I wrote earlier, it seems to me his team is over-playing their hand.
Renfro - Juju and Reek all Cooked... I'll give you Diggs and the declining Deebo. That said I would still take Boutte.Diggs, Renfro, Deebo, Samuel, Tyreek, Juju,
Eagles getting greedy?? 2027 First Rounder is a little too rich for my blood: 2028 first not a problem. Pats have the Leverage AJB wants out. 2027 Second or 2028 First would be my final offer.Patriots and Eagles at an impasse in A.J. Brown trade talks?
The two sides remain apart with a pivotal deadline coming up.www.patspulpit.com
before you label him "nothing special", throw him the ball 60-90 attempts and then review the counting statsThis is the beauty of still having the contract rights to him. Skip OTAs all you want, Keshon, the world will look very different in a good way if you have a chance to make your point on the field... A Brown deal locks Boutte out and makes it so he "never had a chance." A sliver of a chance looks different. Now Boutte can prove his case as a starter... 300 more yards, 3 more TDs, and a banner year from Kyle Williams, and you have a homegrown youth movement at WR, and all is forgiven, for a price, of course.
Philly should know we have a Plan B to go to, and Boutte does have a possible "diamond in the rough" dimension.
But right now, he's nothing special and everybody but he knows it.
Even with Boutte and Diggs still on the roster the team was looking to add at WR.. they knew they needed more. Guys played great last season but in the postseason the jig was up. Postseason you need game changers..before you label him "nothing special", throw him the ball 60-90 attempts and then review the counting stats
I am not advocating that he is "special", but his underlying metrics and growth season over season, combined with him going into year 2 in the same system, screams there is more upside to be had.
if that upside is realized elsewhere, that's also fine, if better replacements are brought in (ABJ is better)...but don't move Boutte in haste and wait out his optimum value. there is no rush
the Pats deal with Diggs was always structured to be 1 and most likely done.Even with Boutte and Diggs still on the roster the team was looking to add at WR.. they knew they needed more. Guys played great last season but in the postseason the jig was up. Postseason you need game changers..
He played the most WR snaps on the team for two years in a row with the same QB.before you label him "nothing special", throw him the ball 60-90 attempts and then review the counting stats

it is hard, because you have an agendaHe played the most WR snaps on the team for two years in a row with the same QB.
If he got open more, he'd get the ball more. This isn't hard.
He's under 6 feet tall, not super fast, explosive or quick.
He's not developing into Calvin Johnson just because you like the guy.
Oh, I agree. He's just in a rush to have a shot at being "the guy." We've had him since '23, which we should note, even though every receiver in NE is in their second year in this system (and with this QB). He's good -ish, the same way that Doubs is, but less so.before you label him "nothing special", throw him the ball 60-90 attempts and then review the counting stats

It's a certainty that our game improves with a better O-line (which we did prioritize).Even with Boutte and Diggs still on the roster the team was looking to add at WR.. they knew they needed more. What’s my agenda… I don’t want Boutte to become Randy Moss… why wouldn’t I want that?it is hard, because you have an agenda
He was Drake’s favorite receiver. He played the most snaps. At some point you have to answer the question why he couldn’t get open more?snaps and targets are different. if you do not understand that, lets not discuss the topic.
The entire receiver room on the Pats was hyper efficient. Drake led the NFL in completion percentage. What part of this don’t you get?"getting open" is nonsense. Boutte caught 70% of his targets. he doesn't need to be "open"
500 yards receiving is 500 yards… no matter how hard you polish coal it won’t become a diamond. They want to upgrade for a reason.the Pats RB's saw 75+ targets. Maye ran the ball over 100 times.
Diggs saw 100+ targets. Henry saw 87 targets.
Diggs is no longer here. Henry is most likely in his last or next to last season. Brown may or may not be here. the desire is for Maye to cut his rush attempts in half or more
Boutte in year 2 of this offense, and with his already established chemistry with Maye, might be the teams best WR option, if Brown is not coming on board.
