RB is an underrated position of uncertainty when considering which players will make for the best group in view of: lead back, overall versatility, youth, contract status, and future leadership.
It seems we'll go into week 1 with Stevenson as #1, and Henderson as #2. After that it's completely unknown.
Since last years training camp, Larison appeared to be a "McDaniel's type" of guy, much like Burkhead but more explosive and athletic.
Also, the more I've watched, the more I think Miller & Montgomery could be valuable and may be a part of Pats future plans. Miller, specifically, looks like he could be the Stevenson replacement after this season.
It should be interesting. Let's talk about it.

Henderson had over 900 yards rushing and 1100 yards from scrimmage in 2025, despite (1) having lousy vision and (2) an OL that did not open up a lot of inside holes. If those things get fixed, watch out.

The O-line should be better. Vision is something that is extremely hard to "fix"/"teach".. But Henderson did have a couple of runs that he went the other way and that he broke for big gains.

Barring injury and the O-line being worse, I would expect Henderson and Stephenson to have about 200 rushes each. I wouldn't be surprised to see them BOTH go over 1000 yards with them both adding 200-300 yards receiving. The 3rd RB, whomever it is, is going to have trouble getting offensive snaps. Which is not a bad problem to have,

What's really interesting is that, despite the O-line being so poor in the run-blocking and teams stacking the box for a good portion of the season, Stephenson had 4.6YPC and Henderson had a 5.1YPC. I could see the additions of Hill and Gilliam adding at least half-yard per carry to each of their YPC totals (barring injury / bad o-line play)

while I do not believe Stevenson or Henderson are top 5 in the league, I do think combined, they are top 5 in the league.
clearly, there is a need for another 1 or 2 rb's.
but those two together? top 5

Depends on what you find important the consistent every down banger or the change of pace home run hitter. I think Stevenson is more important because it's harder to find the guy that can take 20-25 snaps a game versus the guy who gets 10-20. That said I like our starters and think they compliment each other nicely. It's purely depth that's concerning if either of those guys goes out for an extended period we are screwed.

Rhams last year here... Unless he starts dropping the ball again, we will run him until his legs fall off... Save Hendersons legs for the post season... The full backs are a mystery to me... Larrison might find himself as the odd man out... Westover is just over... Appreciate that he changed up positions last year for the good of the team, but I have a hard time seeing him anywhere but the practice squad...

I actually think Larrison could end up challenging for HB snaps. Also think either Miller or the other kid UDFA has a shot to stick. Need more than 2 RB’s.

They has 3 RBs until Jennings got hurt. Then they relied on bringing up Johnson from the PS.

Last year the Pats had a ridiculous number of RBs end up on IR:
Larison - IRed in camp
Prince - IRed in camp
Gibson - IRed week 6
Jennings - Activated from PS week 7, IRed week 14.
Corbin - PS IR
Reynolds - PS IR

I can't remember a team having to IR that many RBs in a single season.

they again have numbers for camp. Larison, Lampe, Miller, Jennings, Montgomery..in addition to the 3 locks.
seems they can find/keep 1 of the 5 on the 53, and even stash 2 on the PS

It will be a stable of RB's, use them all. Rhamondre will still do the heavy lifting on early downs. Henderson will be the change of pace, just like last year.

#3 RB should be an interesting competition.

I think that Stevenson and Henderson take almost all the reps if they are both healthy,

I would like to see a #3 RB who could be a KR and a reasonable active #2 if one of our top RB's is injured.

Gibson if healthy
one of the untested 1st or 2nd year players could be PS while learning the offense
Stevenson, Henderson, Gibson, Gilliam would be one of the better groups in the league

His vision is fine unless you want him to find holes that arent there.

Pretty sure Gibson was released.

When have we ever saved a player for the post season. It’s really just not a thing.

Of course, a Gibson who is expected to come back anywhere near 100% is a no-brainer, even if starts out on IR.
