2027 Watch List

I would go BPA. For me that would be Johnson > Becker > Green, but it's close.

The related question is, if Eli Raridon works out and we trade for AJ Brown, should we even consider investing a 1st round 2027 pick on WR or TE?

My answer is yes, any position other than QB is fair game as long as the player is in the mix for BPA. Building a dominant WR/TE group is a good use of resources, depending on who else is available.

Any of Johnson/Becker/Green + AJ Brown/Romeo Doubs/Kyle Williams + Eli Raridon would be as strong a group of receivers since 2007.

One thing to point out with arguably our two biggest needs for '27, LB and safety, is that they are probably two of the easiest positions to fill in FA. That doesn't mean we shouldn't draft them, but if we do sign two of them in FA, it allows us to focus on BPA much more. Obviously a lot can change between now and then, so I'm just looking at things from today's perspective.

I understand the reasoning, but I still wish we could have added Rolder and Wheatley in the 4th as insurance.

If we had signed Leo Chenal and another S in FA ...

I'm all for plugging holes in FA of cost not exorbitant, would still address in draft, but have more freedom not to address early.

Assuming some of the following are available with our 1st round pick:

Will Echoles/Ahmad Moten/A'Mauri Washington, IDL
Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE
Sammy Brown/Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa, LB
Jelani McDonald/Tae Johnson/Ty Benefield, S
Ellis Robinson IV, CB
Charlie Becker, WR
Jamari Johnson/Trey'Dez Green, TE

I hope we would pick whoever we have graded highest on our board.

I want to get a better feel for his athleticism, but I do like Dashawn Spears as a potential safety pick. There's no harm in looking at DB U for your DBs.

Man I can't wait for late August. That feels like a better list than last year.

Names I'd add personally

S Dashawn Spears
S Koi Peirich (I need to really watch him)
WR Nick Marsh
CB OJ Frederique, Chris Peal

Lots of time to add people.

The nice thing is that we still have a long list of attractive prospects, even assuming the following are off the board before we pick:

5 QBs
WRs Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman
OTs Trevor Goosby and Jordan Seaton
DT David Stone
EDGE Colin Simmons and Dylan Steward
CB Leonard Moore
S KJ Bolden

That's 14 players, which gets us to about 27 with the guys listed above. Plus I didn't include other OLs, probably another 3-5 round 1, which gets us close to an initial 32.

RG binky.

Player Summary

P.J. Williams is a very fun offensive tackle prospect in the 2027 class if he declares. He is very much an athlete in a big body, and he plays like it. I enjoy seeing him match up with several notable pass rushers and holding his own, in fact event imposing his will on them at times. Williams also moves extremely well for his size and can be utilized in a variety of ways. He can be a bulldozer in the run blocking game and also anchor well when in pass pro. He has some moments where he gets caught, so he isn’t a finished product, but there is a lot to be excited about with him.

I was thinking of you when I read that.

I think right now I am torn. Jacarrius Peak is probably my RG binky with G/T versatility. Then Kade Pieper. But PJ Williams, Austin Siereveld, Carter Smith and Cayden Green all clustered together.

Hoping at least 1 slips a bit. Would be ecstatic with any of them.

Here's my question to everyone. Assuming Eli Raridon works out as planned and we get AJ Brown who contributes as much as he did for the Eagles last year for the next two to three years and Kyle williams progresses normally, who benefits the Patriots more? A top TE (Johnson or Green) or Charlie Becker?

It's a tough one, complicated by Kyle Williams who could be a good WR3. However, I think Becker is the ideal Drake Maye WR with his size speed and ability at the catch point. Williams then becomes your WR4. So, if we were to go pass catcher in the first, I'd pick Becker over a TE I think. That doesn't mean I don't like Jamari Johnson or Tre'Dez Green though.
Lots of if's on that question. If williams develops, if Raridon works out, if Brown is here.
I will be looking at how and how much they use Hollins this year. Becker would be a perfect replacement. Johnson is a different conundrum that i think would be highly tied to how Raridon works. Either way im very high on both and as of today i would be ecstatic with either one.
