Quintayvious Hutchins left Alabama to play college football at Boston College, and he’ll stay in Massachusetts to start his NFL career.

Hutchins spent his entire five-year college career in Boston College and was a regular starter on defense in 2024 and 2025. He ended his senior year with 35 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, across 10 games. Hutchins was mostly used as an edge rusher, and while he was more of a role player during his time at Boston College, he has plenty of experience on special teams that could earn him some playing time in his rookie season in the NFL. Hutchins will spend the offseason and training camp competing against the likes of Elijah Ponder, rookie second-rounder Gabe Jacas and Bradyn Swinson for a rotational spot at edge rusher behind Dre'Mont Jones and Harold Landry.

How the mighty have fallen: we're drafting BC role players.

After five years at BC he should know how to use the T, so he has that going for him.

Dude needs to hit the weight room and build his upper body to match his strong looking lower body.

Seems more a Chung type than a Judon type...

247 for a player that will compete for a ST roster spot, like Minor at 257 last year.

This seems a fine use for a 7th round pick.

A Chung type DE. That really excites me. lol.
Yeah, I don't see him making it at DE unless he shows significant propensity to bulk up under pro training. But as a BB prototypical tweener LB/Safety, maybe.

His speed is not encouraging. Looks like he needs time to accelerate, based on his splits. Bulking up may hurt him there. It’ll depend on what he does, and what their concept for him is. Which may just be doing BOB a special.

From what I read about him. He plays every play to the whistle like you called out his mother. Will play ST’s. That will get him noticed during camp. Now if he has enough skills to stick at a position

That's one hell of a name...

Practice squad/developmental player... Don't see him making the 53

This dude's my binky! Very undersized but technical and high motor. Pulling for him to make the roster on special teams primarily and maybe see some situational pass rush snaps.

Pats doing Bill O'Brien a favor so he can say X amount of BC players got drafted last season to new recruits.

Hutchins has a little bit of Mike Vrabel in him. He played DE and TE at BC his first two years.

At 6'2 1/2 - 6'2 7/8 and 233lbs, Hutchins is likely going to be a LB and not a DE. If he stayed at DE, he'd be the slowest one off the edge with a 10-split of 1.70.. The Wingspan of 81"+ will be beneficial for special teams.

Best name in the draft.

I will hug him and pet him and call him "Hutch".

Whatever he is labeled, his hope is to be the last STer to make the 53. Or, Hutchins will be on the PS, occasionally activated to play ST's (similar to Minor in 2025).
