I can't convince anyone as to why we shouldn't, except to say that we shouldn't. I suspect that Vrabel & Company have a few more moves yet to make before the Draft (possibly trading for a #1 WR), and even after the Draft, if they don't trade for a #1WR before it, I suspect they'll make a move for one after.
Nor should you be. OFC it was a flawed supposition off the bat, you asked folks to convince you of something you thought was sketchy to begin with and that none of us think should be done... but then I suspect you knew that too you ol' trickster you
I am part of the WR cult cause i believe your pass catchers matter, particular without an all time level QB. But I don't want Aiyuk. He will want a huge long term deal based on his one really good 1300 yard season. That has a few issues.
The first being SF is really good at making their offensive guys look good. They have a great scheme and play calling. The second is he is a bad teammate. Third is lack of production. His next best season was just about 1,000 yards. Which is fine. But he won't want to be paid like a guy who will get you 1,000 yards. He wants to be paid like the guy who gets you 1,300 yards. That is a big difference. And he only did it once in 5 years.
I will put up with a bad teammate and diva from that spot to an extent. It is really hard to find a WR on the market that is good who has no bad marks. But with everything else I'd rather not hitch my wagon to him long term.
There are only 2 names I am interested in right now. We don't need any one else who is mid. So wither get AJ Brown as your clear #1 and suck it up. Or trade for Brian Thomas if the price is right. They will want a first for him (he was drafted at 23 overall and had a really good rookie year). I only consider if it they send a second back. Which they almost surely won't do.
For now I am of the mind to draft a #1 in the first round. If a guy worth drafting is there like Denzel Boston. I know some people seem allergic to drafting WRs that high. But everyone else does it and it is how you get in position to not be like us every year where you are looking for a cast off asking for 20M or so who is mid.
WRs being as expensive as they are.... you save more money drafting them high than any other position save QB.
This made the rounds last week. I know nothing about the account posting it. We do know that he didn't show up to assigned rehab with team staff, so the idea of blowing off rehab altogether isn't that farfetched.
Not to worry VJC, after the first few posts, I was convinced that Aiyuk was not a prospect worth chasing. Given his recent actions it is more a question of whether he will even be in the NFL this year
