My Ridiculously Early Start on a 2026 Offseason Plan

Ridiculous overpay for Phillips.

AAV contract reasonable, wpuld have like him in NE.

And another insane overpay for Linderbaum.

Keep your picks fellas!

Christian Barmore acquitted.

Now trade him to Jax for BTJ. Then trade up in the 2nd round for a DT.

Just a thought.

It was reported, but not confirmed. CBS showing it on their tracker, but no contract value given.

Sounds like it is not final, still holding out hope. Would be a good signing for NE.

CBS Sports has taken down the AVT to Giants signing on their tracker.

Why is everyone so keen to get rid of Barmore? He was lights out in the playoffs and if we lose Barmore, it just means more double teams for Milton Williams.

There's still time to go, but we haven't crossed many off this list.

WR
EDGE (probably x2)
TE 2 (at minimum) (including FB)
Safety
LG
NT
Backup LT
Backup RT (maybe)
RB3
Backup MLB
CB depth

0 for 3 so far:

- Alec Pierce re-signs with Indy. $29M AAV
- AVT reportedly signing with Giants for $11M AAV - I would have matched that
$27M to $29M AAV for Pierce is crazy, but the more important lesson learned is that the team who drafts well has the inside track to re-sign the drafted player as a FA after Y4 or Y5 of his rookie contract.

Have to draft well for so many reasons. That is why I love @mayoclinic and @manxman2601 .

To a degree.
Indy offered him a lot of money, pretty sure that was key to his re-signing.
There are reports Wash potentially offered more, not sure if they are true.

Usually there are bargains to be found after day 1 of FA. As of right now, the following are still available:

EDGE: Trey Hendrickson, K'Lavon Chaisson, Sam Williams. Veteran stopgap like Joey Bosa and Jadeveon Clowney.

LG: Alijah Vera-Tucker, Joel Bitonio

CB: Riq Woolen, Nahshon Wright

S: Jaylin Hawkins, Kevin Byard

LB: Devin Lloyd

EDGE - Arnold Ebiketie

WR - Romeo Doubs

LT - Rasheed Walker

LB - Leo Chenal, Dre Greenlaw

LG - Elgton Jenkins

Here's James Foster doing some NFL scouting on Leo Chenal. Why wouldn't Vrabel want him. He sounds perfect. Perhaps he does which is why Tavai was released.

Probably true that Wash offered more and Pierce preferred to take less and not change teams. Proves my point. Drafting well and re-signing your own players is the most important requirement..

EDGE - Arnold Ebiketie

WR - Romeo Doubs

LT - Rasheed Walker

LB - Leo Chenal, Dre Greenlaw

LG - Elgton Jenkins

Good options.

Imagine if tomorrow the Pats signed:

LG AVT, Elgton Jenkins, or Joel Bitonio

EDGE Trey Hendrickson

LB Devin Lloyd, Leo Chenal, or Dre Greenlaw

CB Nahshon Wright or Riq Woolen

S Jaylin Hawkins

The Pats have the cap space do all of those moves.

The defense would be vastly improved at EDGE, LB and CB depth, and the OL would be improved.

That would leave the draft to mainly address WR (trading for BTJ still a possibility), RT, TE, S.

Leo Chanel athleticism

6’3, 250lbs
4.53 forty
1.55 10 yd split !!
40” vert
6.98 3-cone
34 bench

Only 31” arms

But come on, aside from those arms, why wouldn’t you want him as a part time pass rusher at least? He can play edge, he can backup Spillane and he could be used as a mug front blitzing linebacker. He is now my no 1 FA wish.
