2026 Draft: EDGE

Well that would hurt!

Ian Rapoport names Miami's Akheem Mesidor as Jets option at No. 2 overall

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tabbed a Miami edge rusher not named Bain as a possible Jets target at No. 2 overall, Akheem Mesidor, in what would be a head-scratching selection.

Whether he has info that Mesidor is that well thought of or is just listing first round edges I don't know, but that would have huge shock value.

OMG. . The amount of propaganda coming out of the Jets is hilarious. First it was Jeremiyah Love at #2 to and now Mesidor..

My guess is that the Jets draft a Corner at #2 since they dealt Gardner. Probably Jermod McCoy with them thinking they got a steal since he didn't play last year due to the ACL.. *LOL*

Fun fact.

total pressures in the last 3 years

TJ Parker - 127
DDS - 126.

They are both very consistent.
How many pressures did Jacas have?

I'm not sure how I feel about this. more likely to fall to 31 but are we one of those teams?

107.

But 142 over his career. Good call. DDS has 5 more and Parker is only a Jr so doesn't have a 4th year.
I think Jacas got better as the college season played out - 7 sacks in his last 5 games. Not sure that is common. Jacas had the most bench presses of any EDGE. The schedule for Jacas might have been easier as the season went along, but that would be unusable for a college team - usually they have more powder puff games at the beginning.

I'm not completely sold but he'd fit in the "well okay" tier for me.

Keion White had 30 bench press reps at the combine, and Jacas had, wait for it, 30 bench press reps at the combine. Your "well OK" might be about right.

Von Miller had 21
Daniell Hunter had 25
Aaron Donald had 35
Trey Hendrickson had 18
Maxx Corsby had 18
What does it all mean....nothing.

Who Cares.

It is the off-season, we talk about a lot of meaningless stuff (in case you have not been reading the posts recently )

You've been using Foster's page for awhile. What did he say about White in term of his pass rush moves? Jacas is 40/40/20 in terms of Power/Speed/Inside. That tells me he's got a plethora of moves and he varies them regularly. Which is what successful pass-rushers do.

Why aren't you sold that Jacas would be a fit?

I think a lot of it was that I was underwhelmed by him as a pass rusher during the early to mid part of the year and his successful end to the season passed me by which is on me, and because I just have other guys I like more. It's also because my expectations for a first round pass rusher are greater than what I think Jacas offers. I do need to study him again though, I'm not sure why I like Zion Young more than him and that's something I need to re-examine.

I think Mesidor is a better pass rusher.
I think TJ Parker can be a better pass rusher if he can get back to '24 form.
I think DDS has greater upside because of that athleticism although they're similar now.

Jacas v Young is where I need to look again.

A nice circular moment for me.

On the very first post in this thread, I provisionally gave R Mason Thomas my first binky nomination of the process. I was very impressed by his ability and speed to close to the QB which I considered borderline elite. It is still the part of his game that impresses me most.

Today, while dong some research, I learned that his pass rush win rate on true pass sets is identical to that of Abdul Carter last year.

Lance Zierlein, in his scouting reports for NFL. com does player comps for a lot of his top prospects. So I thought I'd share his comps for his top edge rushers. not to be taken too seriously but a useful way to visualise these prospects.

David Bailey - Nik Bonitto
Reuben Bain - Brandon Graham
Keldric Faulk - Carlos Dunlap
Akheem Mesidor - Jonathan Greenard
Zion Young - Za'Darius Smith
Cashius Howell - Will Mcdonald
Gabe Jacas - Matthew Judon
Jaishawn Barham - Chop Robinson
TJ Parker - None
R Mason Thomas - Dee Ford
Derrick Moore - Yaya Diaby
Keyron Crawford - Samson Ebukam
Joshua Josephs - Jalyx Hunt
Malachi Lawrence - Josh Sweat
Dani Dennis-Sutton - Kingsley Enagbare
