Extending Onwenu

Utter nonsense
Do you not actually watch Onwenu play?

He’s carrying MIN of 30 lbs of unnecessary fat. Probably more at his height/frame.

And I’m sure you aren’t arguing that body fat amount is not a better incentive metric than just weight ?

Because that would be stupidity.

I don’t think you are stupid.

Pic attached of Mike…come on man. He does not need that much adipose tissue and would likely be BETTER with less.

My point was really that you don’t extend a guy who already got paid and then immediately got fatter.

I think Owenu is a top 8 OG for sure and I think they rework his contract to save cap money, but I admit that I would prefer a more mobile guy at RG for more screens and I think there was probably a correlation between Mike and roll outs to the right.

I may not be remembering correctly but it felt like as the season went on the roll outs decreased
Yes, the team can cut or trade a top 10 OG and hope that whoever they sign as a replacement will perform better, as will the rest of the new players.

My strong preference is to bring everyone back and add a starting veteran LG, along with draft a future starter at RT.

Only way I do it is if there is very strong language in it relating to body fat % …which is a better metric than “weight”.

Edit: Candidly this is also what’s best for Onwenu the human. Carrying that much fat while being an NFL player, with that level of activity does not bode well for retirement
FYI - Weight bonuses are allowed in the CBA. Body fat clauses are not.

Barmore was a big reason we got to the SB. He is an excellent player. Extending him surely wasn’t a mistake.
Now that’s laughable. This is a thread about Owenu, so I’ll leave it at that.

He’s the least mobile G the Pats have had in the last 25-30 years.

Good choice because your argument is indefensible.
It’s actually the exact opposite. Wolf even said he didn’t play well this year for a stretch and Wolf was being generous. Vrabel had to pep talk Barnore earlier in the early because Barmore was upset he couldn’t get the QB. Barmore was later benched for a game for unknown reasons. He can’t defend the run without the other $100M DL. His lone sacks were against the Dolphins and Jets.

Barnore has been awful since he got paid. The defenders like yourself are just making **** up. Absolutely laughable.

The weight thing drives me nuts, but his play is solid. I vote for not creating new problems. Right tackle is more urgent ... maybe we squeeze one more year out of grandpa moses? I'm fine with campbell and wilson, and bradbury is acceptable... but definitely need to build the the depth. We were pretty lucky overall on injuries to the line, which is not likely to happen again.

awful seems a bit harsh, but he sure does have a knack for almost-sacks, lol.

He was near the league leader in qb pressures. The run defense was excellent. It’s actually you making things up.
Barmore played all 21 games. He never played less than 30 snaps.

Your comment about wolf is a flat out lie.
Here is what he really said.

### February 25, 2026 (at the NFL Scouting Combine, commenting on Barmore's development and value to the team):
"Christian, obviously, was good before, and made an even more significant jump this year. And he's someone that we want to work with."<grok:render card_id="422da7" card_type="citation_card" type="render_inline_citation">

Jesus dude. Some of you guys with these comments I wonder what the hell you're actually watching on Sundays?

I already debunked the "pressures" nonsense earlier this season. He's nowhere close to being a league leader which you an look up in 2 seconds. Stop the gaslighting nonsense.

"But his play didn't live up to the potential that the 26-year-old possesses"

"Playing alongside Milton Williams, he didn't fill the "robin"-type role that people expected for him. He only had two sacks, coming nearly two years after a hefty contract extension (four years, up to $92 million) he signed in 2024. That also doesn't take into the account the blood clots he was diagnosed with that forced him to the sideline for most of that season."

"Since then, however, it's been all downhill for Barmore, and ESPN thinks he may be sent packing by the Patriots.

"The Patriots would definitely need to find an on-field replacement for Barmore's interior pass-rushing skills. Last season, he had 11 quarterback hits and two sacks. However, Barmore is facing an assault and battery charge, and New England might want to make a change and focus more on improving on the edge."

"As ESPN noted, Barmore had a mediocre season in 2025, recording only two sacks and 11 quarterback hits."

"
Then there’s Barmore. Even at 26, there are reasons to believe his best football has been played, too.

Barmore has a history of knee injuries recently overshadowed by his battle with blood clots. He failed to tally a single pressure in the Super Bowl. He had two sacks in the regular season, when his run defense was often problematic. He genreated several quick pressures but also failed to record as much as quarterback hit in seven of eight games during one midseason stretch; a dry spell Wolf noted this week in an answer about whether Barmore is the type of player in whom the Patriots should be investing.

No, I don't lie. He sandwiched compliments with criticism. He was being nice. Nice try though.

"Wolf on Christian Barmore: "Christian has grown up quite a bit, and we continue to help him with that. And he continues to want to make improvements in that area. So, yeah, he's continued to improve on the field. He had a little bit of a lull in the middle of the season there. He wasn't playing quite as well, but kicked it up again at the end, and continues to be a key cog in there for us."

He was 9th in DT QB pressures.

Position opinions of people who don’t watch every play of every game does nothing to change my opinion formed by watching every play of every game.

Wolf was effusive in his praise, you are picking out one throw away line.

And you absolutely lied that he was benched for a game.

Bringing PFF into the chat huh? That's when you know you're reaching. Here's more bi-polar analysis from them. He's nowhere in the conversation.

Then graded out poorly overall by them.

Complete f**king denial.

Sorry, benched for a quarter against Cleveland. My mistake. It's not like you don't "lie" either. You said Barmore was "near the league leader" in pressures. That's a "lie". When that's the best rebuttal you have you know you've got nothing else.

Thanks for playing.

Weight clause has never made sense to me in an era of Dexa scans.

The biggest difference is weight can easily be monitored by the player on an ongoing basis.

PFF statistics not analysis.

PFF analysis is widely known to be crap, but they can count up statistics.

Of course you lied, you said benched for a game for unknown reasons.

9th is near the league lead.

You lie. 9th is not near the league lead. And that "stat" you're reaching with is not an official stat because it's subjective.

Pro Football Reference has him with 15 "pressures" which makes more sense given his other official stats were putrid.

But generally speaking, you do realize that statistics is a major factor in analysis?

And again you criticized another poster for using stats from PFF in another thread only to turn around and use it in another argument. That's some pretty odd behavior. By the way, you should credit PFF and not plagiarize.

This is where you are wrong. Analysis grades a player on his play, it does not count up stats. Anyone can count up stats. You have to know what you are watching and have skill to evaluate play.
PFF counts stats. PFF stinks at evaluation.

Wrong, I criticized for using PFFs grading.

Maybe you should take a break and try another day, you are getting everything wrong today.
