McAdoo is supposedly leaving as well, though not sure where he's going.
this makes sense.

If Josh did not return, McAdoo might have stepped into the OC role, but with Josh being here, he became redundant.

don't need two voices in Mayes head at this point. He may have been beneficial with AVP here cuz reasons, but he was never a great OC to begin with. Can't rightly say I will miss him.

He was also reportedly in charge of scripting/predicting opposing opening plays for the Patriots defense, and given that the defense seemed poorly prepared to start most games this season, that doesn't reflect well on him.

I don't think McAdoo added much of anything, not much lost there.

Kugler was on the OL staff, tough to lose people there, but they had three OL coaches last year, so they were a little heavy as it was. Hopefully he is not a bright up and comer, but I think Marrone did a generally good job. I'd like to see more polished technical play in 2026 assuming none of the starters are rookies anymore.

That was one of my early points after SB. OL was still one of our weakest units on the team, and I didn't think a 3-headed coaching monster on OL was a great thing. So maybe addition by subtraction. And McAdoo leaving would be a great thing. I can't believe he stuck with Vrabel for a year.

So, it was mentioned that Kugler left to join the Steelers as their TE Coach.

Defensive Asst Milton Patterson has also left.

I’m not sure what McAdoo did. Kind of think they had him go on vacation for the year to collect the rest of his contract

Can we sticky this for comings and goings?

I read that he mostly worked on the defensive side of the ball, I think that Terrell Williams will take the role that Wackadoo had.

What are you talking about? The Pats had an O-Line coach and 2 Asst O-line coaches. There was no "3-headed coaching monster". The O-line being weak is because it is transitioning. But it was also improved in some aspects. And the future is bright. YOU thinking that removing a good coach like Kugler is "addition by subtraction" is ridiculous.

Why is McAdoo leaving a great thing? He was helping on the defensive side of the ball. He's leaving because they're promoting Williams to take his place with Kuhr being the full-time DC.

McAdoo brought a lot of experience with him.. He was a benefit to the team. He's probably going to try and get an OC job so he can get back into line for a HC job.

The defense was NOT "poorly prepared" to start most games". The Pats scripted their first series of defensive plays to be able to gauge the other team before making adjustments. That is a decision that the Coaching Staff (Vrabel, Kuhr, McAdoo, Williams,, etc) agreed to do. That's how Vrabel chose to run the defense. Claiming that it doesn't reflect well on McAdoo says you ignored Vrabel's statements all year about how they were running the defense.

It’s hard to believe that we had three offensive line coaches and still put that kind of bad product on the field this year… Granted there was injuries to Campbell and others… and obviously we didn’t have top talent at the right positions and especially the backups… I’m sure that’s a big part of our draft this year

I think McAdoo was a Mayo holdover - as opposed to the guys that Vrabel brought in, many of who are just inclined to want to play for him rather than another coach they don't know.

I wonder to what degree McDaniels' remaining contract with the Raiders has impacted interest in him as a head coach.

On top of his OC salary ($6 mil a season probably?) he's still been collecting his $10 million a season from Tom Brady and the Raiders ownership

I think he gets that this year and next year, as long as he's not a head coach, so any team would have to make up that $20 million

Nearly all coaching contracts have offset clauses, so he would only be getting the difference. And apparently teams can do arbitration to prevent other teams from, say, paying an OC just $10K a year so their old team picks up the tab. I don't know how much NE is paying him, but it would have to be similar to at least the lowest-paid OC.

I believe that to be the case. I think they played somewhat Vanilla to see what the other team was doing and then made adjustments. I have no problem with that philosophy.
