Enjoyed watching him suit up for the Pats.
Hope he gets a crack at a role somewhere soon, by all accounts he was a positive influence for teammates + well liked.
I don’t like this injuries happen and he was a good kick returner, getting younger and cheaper it seems like.
It's not so much a surprise that they'd move on from Gibson. The question is why NOW? What's the hurry. He was one of my binkies going into the season and seemed to have found a great role on the offense as well as ST's. Sad ending to a what MIGHT have been.Makes sense. I am a liiiiiiitle surprised just because the savings are pretty immaterial and there was no guarantee trigger so I figured it might be a situation where they just brought him to camp and see how he looked.
My guess is that he "failed" whatever end of year physical and it allowed the Pats to cut him. He's free to sign with whomever he wants when he's healthy. It's not so much a surprise that they'd move on from Gibson. The question is why NOW? What's the hurry. gotta be, guess he doesn’t sign anywhere til August/September. maybe even hereYeah, I have to think it's at least partly medical if they're doing it now.
FWIW it creates about $2.5M in cap space [his $3.5M salary minus replacement] and leaves $1M in dead money.
