Feels like they'll still call them the Chicago Bears.

That would be stupid beyond all reason. Destroy name recognition for the franchise and alienate 95% of the population living within an hour's drive. The Indiana suburbs of Chicago are an urban wasteland of abandoned buildings and properties, having never recovered from the collapse of the steel industry there. the plusses are it being cheap to build, no crazy property taxes, and maybe just maybe a chance to establish an economy thereBut the thing is if Indiana is going to put up two billion dollars for the Bears to come to Indiana, are they going to require the Bears to become the Indiana Bears. I mean in the grand scheme of things, it isn't a huge deal but it would mean something to a lot Chicago based Bears fans who are lifelong fans. It could turn some of their fan base on them.
I think they should have found a way to make Soldier Field work. That place was iconic.the Bears leaving Chicago? doesn't seem right to me... they should have stuck to the plans for a development north of the city (arlington? cant remember if that was it) they put forth a few seasons ago... guess ownership didn't want to cough up any dough to pay for their new palace... not when they can get John Q to pay for it...
Didn’t the Angels do that to Anaheim? LA Angels…. of Anaheim. But the thing is if Indiana is going to put up two billion dollars for the Bears to come to Indiana, are they going to require the Bears to become the Indiana Bears. ever been? it was a **** hole when i went...I think they should have found a way to make Soldier Field work. That place was iconic.
Hammond and Hartford.Outside of that driving distance am I teh only one thinking this has a bit of a whiff of Pats to Hartford to it?
This is a problem with the big expensive cities. I remember the Jets and Giants were looking at the Yards in midtown Manhattan on the west side. No one is going to give up that amount of acreage in the heart of Manhattan for a football stadium.the Bears leaving Chicago? doesn't seem right to me... they should have stuck to the plans for a development north of the city (arlington? cant remember if that was it) they put forth a few seasons ago... guess ownership didn't want to cough up any dough to pay for their new palace... not when they can get John Q to pay for it...
The Bears bought a huge tract of land... It was a very ambitious project...This is a problem with the big expensive cities. LA is more spread out so there are more possibilities there, but in older denser cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, it's very tough to build a stadium anywhere in the vicinity. All of metro Chicago is a problem unless you can move the team downstate to play at Bloomington for a season while you build on the Soldier's Field property.
Then why today is there more smoke of moving to Indiana? The Bears bought a huge tract of land... It was a very ambitious project...
Bears finalize $197.2 million purchase of Arlington Park
The Bears announced Wednesday that they have closed on their $197.2 million purchase of 326 acres of property in Arlington Heights.profootballtalk.nbcsports.com
Bears are looking to create a massive 5 billion dollar devlopment on their new site... moving out of the loop... The days of Soldier Field look numbered... Went to the old Soldier Field back in '94... It was a dump... As bad, if not worse than Foxboro... Never went to that fish bowl they put inside of Soldier Field in 2002...
good for the Bears... Most likely bad for the taxpayers of Illinois and its visitors...

The mayor is certainly a moron.Chicago would be morons to lose the Bears. The Bears are just trying to get the city to blink like Kraft did.
