Will Pats cut Bradbury? [OG title mentioned a non-existent option bonus]

I didn't have a problem with anything they did.

There was really no veteran to pair him with unless you thought Cole Strange for a year was helpful.

Campbell did fine until he got hurt. Not perfect, but good enough. And Wilson got a year of experience..

At the start of the year if someone gave the results for both for the season, everyone would have been happy.

Strange69 would Indeed have been more helpful starting at LG this season than Wilson was.

Wilson certainly has to still prove himself, but from day one at camp they moved him around different positions on the offensive line (and almost always with the first team), They felt enough of Wilson to play him out of position all season.

So why the tough grade on his ability to pick up the center position mentally?
I looked up Wilson's 2025 PFF numbers. Ugly. When it is this bad, why not play Brown?

With Bradbury and Wilson blocking, how did anyone expect to run between the tackles?

Bradbury is no world-beater for sure, but the guy gets a bum rap. He was steady all season and resilient, bouncing back from illness. We could do a lot worse.

I still can't get my mind around that decision. Maybe they really can't stand a guy who is too light. Wilson and Onwenu are big boys. But I watched Strange 2x this year (granted, not a good sample size, but one was against the Patriots) and he was very good for them. Miami fans believe he was their best linemen. What he does is move and stay in front of guys. If you bull rush him, he'll give up a lot of ground. But that's better than whiffing and giving people absolutely free runs.

He's a rookie. Let's develop him.

The alternative is too difficult for my brain to contemplate. I mean, 5-10 drafts picks on the position in the last several years, one of them DEAR LORD has to hit!

There is no reason to believe that Wilson can be developed to be effective as a starter a LG.

Yeah whenever there was a Miami game shown here in Boston, I always paid particular attention to Strange69; and I agree I think he looked good, winning his blocks or at least holding his own long enough on practically every snap... and that was at Right Guard, his less-natural position.

That would be a suboptimal use of that pick, especially since they're going to need a new RT soon, too.

Also, Campbell/Wilson didn't really fail until both were post-injury going against top tier defenses at the tail end of their 2d consecutive (w/o a break) college season of PRO Football

FIFY.

I have zero problem with Vrabel going with the rookie he drafted over a player at the end of his rookie deal who had been nothing special for three years, and was set to be a FA.

Again at the beginning of the season it wasn't just wins, but development.

Perhaps Vrabel felt Maye needed a veteran center, and there was always a chance Campbell/Wilson would have clicked as the season progressed, and there's your left side of the line for a decade.

Vrabel made so many great calls. Picking this apart, when really it was not a disaster at all and he was going with youth, is nit picking. No one is perfect, and at the time I thought it was the right decision. In fact still do.

But now Bradbury is a goner.

I don't care how it's fixed, or who plays where, but Maye cannot undergo another season without protection

Sorry Tune. But he wasn't steady and resilient all season.
Bradbury was tied for 19th out 32 centers in pressures allowed for centers with at least 577 starting snaps.

Bradbury was arguably one of the worst run-blocking centers in the league. And that was an area he excelled at in his years with the Vikings. I also pointed out how his inability to pick up twists/stunts hurt the team.

Bradbury gave up a sack and 5 hurries in the SB. When the team needed his veteran presence the most, he was noticeably lacking.

We have said this about too many interior linemen who ended up starting and playing well elsewhere, from Froholdt to Strange to Jake Andrews.

Granted, there were many who failed elsewhere and never were going to develop, and some who are already out of the league quickly (Layden Robinson), but there are others who did develop after not showing much as rookies.

Strange is pretty young. There's another thread here about picking up a veteran guard. So we're already talking about bringing people in instead of going with development.

This is why I never trust them. The Miami boards say he was their best linemen. I watched a couple games and he played really well.

Remember the year PFF had Onwenu as the 2nd best guard in the NFL?

It is hard to trust them because the "pressures" can be off a bit. I am not an Onwenu fan because he is so immobile, but he is solid.

It's not hard to trust the pressures.

If his immobility was an issue, why is it that he's got one of the best pass protection snap to pressure allowed ratios in the league? It's actually better than Trey Smith or Chris Lindstrom. Better than Quinn Meinerz.

Feel free to give an alternate source for them that tracks sacks allowed, QB hits, QB Hurries that is unimpeachable.
