Will Pats cut Bradbury? [OG title mentioned a non-existent option bonus]

I am not sure what you are asking. I am not the one saying he should move to center. Others on Pats Fans are saying that.

How does anyone know he will be good at center in the Pros? That is your question? I am saying he should possibly be a backup for a year to learn.
Why a guy wouldn’t be likely to be better at his natural college position in the pros? If you can’t connect any dots there, I really can’t help you.

I hope they learned that putting two rookies side by side is not helping either learn. Pair rookies with veterans.

I hope they learned that when a rookie struggles, the rookie might not be able to play through it. Sometimes learning as a backup for awhile is OK.

I didn't have a problem with anything they did.

There was really no veteran to pair him with unless you thought Cole Strange for a year was helpful.

Campbell did fine until he got hurt. Not perfect, but good enough. And Wilson got a year of experience..

At the start of the year if someone gave the results for both for the season, everyone would have been happy.

???

Vrabel CHOSE to cut Strange, start Wilson at LG and keep Wallace on the team as an IOL backup.

BTW they did close to a similar thing at safety, even though Hawkins was a veteran.

They cut the two veterans to play two unknowns, one a rookie.

Vrabel was building a team, not looking at just this year.

I agree. Hawkins and Woodson worked well as Woodson progressed well as a safety. Woodson now looks like one of the best draft picks.

Hawkins was a veteran who was an inexpensive choice as a starter. This is similar to Strange being retained as inexpensive starter.

We ALL wanted to see Wilson develop. He should have had development at CENTER.

My point is that we have forgotten where we were during training camp.

I think it's fair to criticize Vrabel for cutting someone like Jake Andrews who was a young player never given a chance.

But to point at overplaying rookies (or cutting Cole Strange) when it appeared the idea behind the season was to decide who was in our future is difficult for me to place any blame.

@mgteich - You ever going to show where you got the idea that Bradbury has an option in his contract? Or are you going to pretend you didn't say it and have numerous people call you out on it?

I doubt they need the cap space freed up from cutting him to make a free agent or trade move.

If so, no reason to not bring him to camp and let him compete with whomever.

If they can sign a starting left guard, then is Wilson vs Bradbury for center. Ben Brown backup guard and center so if Bradbury loses then Wilson starts and Bradbury cut. Wilson not ready then Bradbury starts.
It's possible Pats like Brown equivalent to Bradbury going forward. In that case they would cut Bradbury and Wilson/Brown compete but seems les likely.

So much depends on if the get a LG to replace Wilson.

Maybe Wilson wasn't ready to play center, and Vrabel thought a year playing beside a veteran would speed his development.

Again they made the Super Bowl and young players developed better than any recent year in memory.

It's hard to pick the results apart for me.

I don't blame them.. it was open competition all camp.. they had 2024 draft picks layden Robinson, Wallace, that busted out... they had the 32nd ranked OL in 2024.. Bradbury was solid this season although we can stand to get more at C.. next season coming from they 2024 OL to last season was definitely much better .. we saw 3 dam good defenses in the postseason well 4 with Seattle they will stress any OL.. but for 2025 they were decent enough however again they were 32nd in 2024.. we must remember that.

I agree. I am not placing blame. BB was also stubborn like playing Sidy Sow all year and then Sow was cut by Vrabel. Why is the coaching approach seem to be playing the guy even if their success is limited? For some reason the coaches are stubborn and that does not always end welll.

Some posters think Wilson would be OK at Center. I think the game is too fast for Wilson mentally. Moving to Center will not help that. Hopefully the whole game slows down for Wilson in Y2 and it all works out.

Wilson certainly has to still prove himself, but from day one at camp they moved him around different positions on the offensive line (and almost always with the first team), They felt enough of Wilson to play him out of position all season.

So why the tough grade on his ability to pick up the center position mentally?

BB and crew moved Sidy Sow around and had him with the 1st team all year as well. Who knows why these coaches do what they do.

I did not say that Wilson could not pick up the center position mentally. I said it looks like the game is too fast for Wilson whether at Center or LG. Did you see the clips of Wilson staring at the guy he was supposed to block during the Super Bowl? After the whole season Wilson was still not comfortable looking straight ahead and turning as the ball was snapped. The game was too fast for him. He was nervous so he stared at the defender he was supposed to block. Dead giveaway what the play is.

No idea what Mayo's disaster has to do with 2025. Mayo influenced putting Campbell and Wilson, two rookies, on the left side? I don't think so. I am not sure what you are talking about.

Yeah that was crazy. They had no RT so they basically ruined Sow's career by playing him at a position he had no business even trying. I don't see Wilson as the same circumstance.

Ah I suppose that's a point. Wilson seemed to get worse as the season progressed. In fact most rookies on offense seemed to.

I don't think we have put enough emphasis on number of games played vs the most number of games these young players ever played before in a single season. You can add Drake Maye in that list as well.

I know players missed games because of injuries, but 17 regular season games, 4 playoffs, AND we played our starting offense in preseason more than anybody because it had been so bad the year before.

What's the longest season these players ever had before?

Don't wreck your brain.. it's relatively easy to understand.. I'm simply saying the OL as a whole was much better coming from the 32nd ranked in 2024.. so I just made mention to some who may have forgotten that... thye signed OL in 2024 that one was released and another barely saw the field.. the shot again at OL and took Campbell and Wilson, signed Bradbury and Moses..

The line was far better in 2025 is all I'm saying.. it's nothing to agree/nor disagree about just was stating an opinion.

You did wreck my brain, but that is easy to do since it is so small.

I am not sure it is so different. Wilson looked completely lost in the SB.

I am not sure but Woodson kept getting better and had a great SB. Durden and Ponder kept getting better, I think. It was primarily Drake in his 2nd year, Campbell, and Wilson that seemed to hit a wall.

Henderson had less than 20 yards rushing per game in the playoffs - 2.5 average per carry

Durden is not a kid, and Ponder played 25% of the snaps during the season.

Woodson was the exception. He had a great year.

Henderson, K Williams, even Chism, seemed almost mechanical like they were following strict instructions. They didn't seem like they were playing freely and having fun.
