2026 Draft: Interior OL

I had forgotten that Connor Lew is only 20. He could be an interesting one to eventually replace Bradbury.

He was injured on Oct 18th with a torn acl. Interestingly that was a week before Diggs got injured the previous year. However the trouble is, he'll almost certainly miss all of pre-season and TC so probably a red shirt year is best.

@mayoclinic I am curious why you want them to keep Wilson at LG? I ask because he was pretty bad in totality, he was a decent pass blocker but his run blocking was abhorrent. I am strongly in the camp of sign a FA LG, my preference is David Edwards and let Wilson and Bradburry fight it out at Center in TC.

Campbell was decent to good at run blocking but I feel like Wilson at LG made running to left a crap shoot and remove some plays from the playbook. Just the ramblings of an old-ish man.

JMHO, as another member of the old-ish man club:

1. Because Doug Marrone and company obviously believe in Wilson at LG, and not just out of necessity, and I trust their judgment much more than that of the Patsfans armchair coaching staff. They showed no interest in keeping Ben Brown at LG, or in pursuing veteran LG options at the trade deadline. I also trust the OL coaching staff to coach players up.

2. Because I think he could be the next Quinn Meinerz. Wilson has elite athleticism, not just for OC, but for all OL. 6' 3" 310# with 32 3/8" arms, 80" wingspan, and 10 3/4" hands. 4.84 40, 1.72 10-split, 4.55 SS, 32" VJ, 9' 4" BJ. His numbers match up well with Meinerz, Joel Bitonio, Rashawn Slater, Peter Skoronski, Joe Thuney, and Ali Marpet.

Wilson needs to add 5-10# of good muscle, get much stronger, and learn the nuances of guard play. But he has the frame and athleticism to be elite.

3. Because Wilson wasn't always an OC. He was recruited out of high school as an OG. He was moved to OC in 2024 at Georgia.

4. Because I have seen enough flashes of elite play to feel he can be exceptional at LG, both in pass and run.

5. Because OL take time to develop, and need patience. Meinerz didn't make All Pro until his 4th year. The Broncos actually declined Garrett Bolles' 5th year option, then he exploded in year 4. A rookie season, with injuries, is far too soon to rush to judgment.

I am OK with Wilson at either LG or C. Sign a Tyler Linderbaum or draft a guy like Kade Pieper next year, and I keep him at LG. Sign David Edwards or draft a guy like Emmanuel Pregnon this year, or Austin Siereveld or Cayden Green in 2027, and I move Wilson to C. I think Carter Smith could excel at both G or C.

However it works out, I think Wilson is a multiple contract starter at IOL and a key piece of what I hope will be a dominant OL by 2027-2028.

If you're looking for someone to be the Garrett Bradbury future replacement you want someone who could backup centre and RG in year one leaving brown to backup LG. Matt Gulbin has experience across the interior OL.

Leverage and strong hands. Knock out Bradbury and suit this guy up in his place on Sunday.

But not very athletic. Moves slowly, but is a wall.

Good player, just not sure he's athletic enough.

This is what I want:

He is more RG than RT but as someone who can play guard, 6th OL and backup RT he's a good day 3 bet. Just remember, he was the highest graded run blocker in CFB anywhere on the OL.

This is an interesting name to pay attention to at the combine.

Febechi Unwaiwu, OG/C, Oklahoma

6-4, 324lbs, 33 3/4" arms, 82 3/4 wingspan. Excellent size.

He's a 5th year senior who had experience at all 3 interior positions this year.

He has the joint highest pass block grade as a guard this year along with Beau Stephens. This year he gave up a grand total of zero sacks and only two pressures all year. He didn't give up a pressure since week 4. His run blocking grades are middling.

At the Shrine Game, he was awarded the Pat Tillman award which "recognizes the player who best exemplifies intelligence, sportsmanship, and service."

Fairly glowing scouting report from Sam Teets below

Day 3 guy who looks a little stiff/slow. Unless he scores well on the agility stuff at the Combine.

But he can pass block which is no small thing. Nothing more than an interesting day 3 guy for now and a name, i suspect none of us knew before now. Bear in mind, he doesn't go to the combine unless there's a fair bit of NFL interest.

It should come as no surprise, but I've watched every single snap of Schrauth's career. He's very heavy handed, plays nasty, moves well and has exceptional awareness. Lunch pail type of guy who doesn't get overpowered and will mix it up with anyone. Hard to really say what his RAS will be, but he's athletic enough for sure. He just rarely screws up, a model of consistency with great raw power. Probably not an All-Pro but I would be surprised if he doesn't turn into a quality starter in the NFL. Might need some development due to losing a significant amount of time to injury. Durability is a concern.
