He must refine his technique since his film is littered with concentration drops and inconsistent hand placement when the ball is in the air (alligator arms).
It killed me watching it, wide open with room to run. TEs looked rough yesterday, 2 bad drops down the seam, and one ricochetted of the TEs hands for an INT. It fell on Nuss as an INT but was on the TE.From that report:
He had a really bad drop in the game yesterday.
I could see us taking a flier on Mo Alie-Cox
I like Marlin Klein at Michigan. Good size and athletic profile, good hands and a willing blocker. Still learning the game (he's German) and has plenty of room to develop. Was ridiculously underused at Michigan but I think he'll make people go back and watch the tape after the combine
I've found two interesting TEs, both from SMU. Both are probably very late rounders/UDFA.
1. RJ Maryland, 6'4", 240 (Invited to combine)
Has been at SMU his whole career where he's totalled 113 receptions for 1,493 and 19TDs. 9 career drops but 5 of them came in year 2 of 4.
He's a flex only with not very good blocking grades.
Nice body control and hands on this TD catch
One handed catch over the middle
2. Matthew Hibner, 6'5", 252lbs (not invited to combine).
I think I like this guy better. Better size and better blocker. He was at Michigan for three completely non-productive years until transferring to SMU for the last two and effectively serving as Maryland's backup. However, he did finish the year on 31-436-4td. He's the highest graded pass blocking TE in the draft.
however, I enjoyed his tape.
He's not slow.
Really liking this kid. SMU has a nice pair of TE.
edit: its Matthew Hibner btw
Someone I like on day 3. An all-rounder.
I think that's what the majority of this class is. Lot's of Hunter Henry's. Good solid TEs that don't excel in any one area but can probably relied upon for 40-60 catches and 400-600 yards with some decent blocking. Maybe the combine will separate things out a bit more but this is such a hard class to qualify.Sounds like Hunter Henry.
Of course, the odds are, someone will wind up a great NFL tight end. Sometimes it’s someone from round 1, other times, and it happens almost every year, it’s a tight end from rounds 3-7 who winds up the best tight end in the draft.I think that's what the majority of this class is. Therein lies the fundamental problem of the draft. Who?Of course, the odds are, someone will wind up a great NFL tight end. Sometimes it’s someone from round 1, other times, and it happens almost every year, it’s a tight end from rounds 3-7 who winds up the best tight end in the draft.
Him.Therein lies the fundamental problem of the draft. Who?
