Yep. A lesson most of us learned a long time ago is when you try to make everyone happy most will not be.
Comments from a wise fella: "A wiser fella once said, sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, well, the bar eats you"....

Ooops. For the 10,000th time this year a Patsfan has run their mouth way too soon and ended up looking like an idiot.

Brady just put out an instagram post rooting for the Patriots to " go win your 7th.."

Some people just never learn. But the more I think about it is really just Sam being Sam, I.e... a complete idiot, to the very end.

I rarely disagree with you, Maust, but that's a bad take. Passionate fandom is purely emotional and why we become invested in following sports.

And that's why they race horses, we aren't all the same. It's a 'bad take' from where you sit, a realistic one from my seat. You my friend are as entitled to your passionate opinion as I am to my cynical one. I still love the laundry, my old Pat Patriot stadium seat, the signed Hannah, Grogan, Branch and Wilfork jerseys are all still in their places on my den walls and when I go out the door like as not Pat Patriot will be on my jacket and hat. (We are never going to agree on the abomination that is the Flying Elvis, now that IMO was a true sell out but a subject for another time) As long as I draw breath I'll gladly pay my end of our season tickets every year even if it is so the kids (heck, often their kids) can use them these days. THE PATRIOTS, not Tom Brady, are part of the fabric of our family and the divvying up of the tickets will always be a family holiday here.

Brady is an odd duck and a Cali guy he was never 'Our Tommy!' We just once thought he was, some of us for longer than others. As a passionate long time real deal Pats fan if you want to be pissed off at corporate sold his soul Tom Brady, that is your right. Just as it is mine to simply ruefully shake my head and go about my business. Brady isn't Grogan, he didn't make us his own he didn't stay here when he was done playing and he isn't one of 'us'. We got our championships from Brady's efforts and I'm immensely thankful for them. From where I sit he gave his all while he was here and that's the only thing I feel any professioanl athlete ever owes any of us. You feel Brady continues to owe your emotional investment more despite his not being here anymore. I would invite you to consider Brady was a contracted employee of the Patriots. He was drafted by the team, not born unto us. What he does or doesn't do isn't personal, it's just business. He doesn't know us and any more than we know him.

I honestly respect you and your passion Tune, that isn't contingent on us agreeing on everything. Please continue to feel free to call me out whenever you feel you need an explanation for any position I take. I'll do my best to give it to you and I hope it'll be understandable. A fair weather clown shoe wearing Sam though can kiss my ass.

FU Tom Brady? Not me. I say "Thank you Tom Brady. I'm sorry you're not the guy we wish you were but I know that's an us thing. Thank you for the rings and I hope you have a good life.*"

* And please stop with the cosmetic surgeries Dude, they aren't your friend

I think he is a different person off the field now. And frankly, he probably won't care too much if the Patriots lose. That said, he gave an entire region 20 years of glorious memories. From huge upsets, to excellent regular seasons and comeback SB wins. He paid the fans back tenfold.
We got our money's worth, but he was kind of an a--hole starting with the Guerraro pliability, nutrition stuff.

You have 15,000 posts on a board about a children's game where 11 people beat the hell out of each other for money, moving a ball yard by yard, by using arbitrary rules, and you're going to write something like this?

I'm not 'going to' I already did and I stand by it. I would also point out that it is only a sport to us fans, it is a business to everyone involved in it in any capacity. Realism, it's not for everyone

Brady missed an opportunity to just say "Go Pats" when he was asked the question. Now he's trying to recover.

The last time I had a so called idol I was probably ten years old.
Congratulations, you lost your passion. You must a very boring adult.

Yeah and how long exactly did it take for Brady to backtrack? A week or so, nothing says honest and genuine like caving to external pressure...

I haven’t lost my passion, I’ve had season tickets for 38 years and in those 38 years have missed 5 games, after most games I don’t have a voice until Wednesday, I’m normally one of the first cars on Rt 1 five hours before the game waiting for the lots to open, some times we are ther before the state troopers. friends wonder if I have any non Patriot shirts or coats.

Do you have any other false things you would like to accuse me of?

Man there’s a lot of insecurity here lol.

Not a flattering look for our fanbase tbh. We’re in the freaking Super Bowl with an opportunity to become the team with more Super Bowl titles than any other franchise in NFL history and Brady is more than a key part of all of them except for this year. What Brady says or doesn’t say is way down the list of things I’m thinking about leading up to the game.

Instagram isnt national sports media.

Gonzo posted "Im back" days before the media announced that he was good for the AFCC. Some folks questioned if the post was real or not. But, I suppose a backdoor endorsement a day prior to the game is better than nothing.

We did have a hand in that. We chose to kick him to the curb when we should have treated him much better. I remember some many on here saying they only care about players who play for Pats. Hypocrisy of fans always amuses me.

It hurts a bit that he said this. I think and hope it is to do with Raiders ownership/hiring Hawks OC + being a broadcaster and not because he is still salty about how things ended.

Other than my momentary annoyance at him. My feelings about him do not change. But you have some clowns in this thread insulting and berating him. That part is not ok.
He wasn’t kicked to the curb, he packed his bags and chose to leave.

More often than not, fathers pick for us
My old neighbor back in Mass is a NY Giants fan even though he was born in Forge Village. His Father was a Giants fans because back then the NY Giants were the closest NFL team to MA because the Pats were not established yet.

All my neighbors kids are NY Giants fans.

Never said you weren't a dedicated fan, I don't know you and couldn't possibly make that assumption. Just that you lost your passion and for some reason you're proud of it. As if believing in things greater than yourself, something greater than the sum of your parts is somehow childish...

No I think we get that. But the last time I checked the Raiders are not in the Super Bowl...
A team “owner” can’t show favoritism, he made need to make a trade or deal with these teams in the future. He needs to stay neutral like Switzerland.

Brady really has gone nuts.

The easy way out would have been to state that both teams are good and that either can win. The end.

TB12 has become the Michael Jackson of the NFL sans pet chimpanzee and companion.

According to you a person who doesn’t idolize a player has no passion, that’s silly, Tom is my favorite all time athlete just like Bill is my all time favorite coach but they are not my idols, maybe you and I just have a different definition of what an idol is which is fine. Also to be as dedicated as a fan that I am takes a whole hell of a lot of passion. LOL!
