Re Emmanwori's ankle, two words...

Terrell Owens

Don't underestimate the effects of pharnaceuticals, adrenaline, the lure of the SB trophy, and the competitive spirit.
Owens was kept scoreless.

His longest reception was 36 yards. The rest of the day 8 receptions for 86 yards.

01 was more shocking. it gave us a preview that it could be done. I remember thinking we were going to get smoked by the Greatest Show on Turf. This time I expect the "upset."
I remember coming back from the last game of that year in Charlotte and sitting at a bar with friends, arguing about the Pats chances. Their common take was "yeah, we may make it to the SB but there's no way we beat the Rams." I knew the Pats could do it because of the way they played the Rams during the season.

98.5 did an interview with Ashton Grant and McD on Monday. Don't know if anyone posted about it but at one point McD was talking about Grant and said we want him here with us for a long time. Or something to that point.

McD going somewhere to be HC is not in the cards anymore.

Who's ashton grant?

ETA: oh right he's the QB coach I remember his name now

Oh man, this is an amazing two sentence work of art! It packs in so much. There's the timeless "music stopped being good when it stopped sounding like it did when I was young" bit. ("These 'Beatles' and 'Rolling Stones" are just passing fads, give me Benny Goodman any day!!") There's the dismissal of a performer with 20 straight years at the top of the industry as a flash in the pan and indistinguishable from an old Disney Channel kids' sitcom because they both appeal to "females" instead of "people." Solid gold, thank you.

But yeah, guitar rock bands are something of a dying breed, the radio plays a lot of the same stuff as decades ago. Though some of the young "females" in pop are actually recording rock songs that don't get acknowledged as such, e.g. Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo.
I've been lucky to have two sons in their 40's who've introduced me to a lot of music. I really liked Chris Connell from Audioslave and the RHCP, though some of their stuff has the same kind of sound, like the Rolling Stones. The Beatles (who came around when I was 13) managed to come up with 10 years of songs that all sound different.

I also have a granddaughter who was a swiftie and gave me a couple of CDs of hers. There's a few good songs but not enough (IMHO) to make her a billionaire.

My favorite music story involved my youngest son who was attending college in Georgia. On our first trip down there we made a deal that we'd each take turns putting the 6 CDs into the cars jukebox. But he added an addendum that both of us had to approve all the choices.

Well, I tried to put in Purple Rain by Prince and he didn't give it his okay. He asked, who is that? Some one hit wonder. I didn't say anything at first but then convinced him to listen later on the trip. For the first three songs I asked him if he thought that was their one hit. He became a huge fan and we spent the rest of Prince's life trying to see him in concert somewhere. It never happened

That's not the reason why mostly middle aged men clamor for classic rock for the SB show. They want that because that’s where their comfort zone is, most anything else outside of the genre makes them squirm. This same argument was made when Prince performed and when Bruno Mars performed and when Kendrick Lamar performed and on and on and on. Interestingly enough, none of these “unwanted” artists brought down viewership numbers.

As far as Bad Bunny, he’s been relevant for 10 years already. He was the most streamed artist globally from 2020-2022 and then again in 2025. His audience is huge and odds are his career will be just fine over the next decade plus.

I think you underestimate his global appeal and how he’ll draw viewers and for a league that’s pushing to grow the international audience, he’s exactly what the NFL wants.

But don’t worry, you can tune into the geriatric Kid Rock TP halftime show to listen to his lyrics on underage girls. Seems to be a theme his friends and fans like.
I'm an old geezer but I couldn't tell you one song by Kid Rock or Bad Bunny. Does the TP stand for Turning Point?

Owens had 2 months to let his broken leg set. This happened yesterday.

He's so good that the Patriots will still have to be very careful in testing him. I'd like to see them just really pay attention to his snaps in the first half, how he's looking, then make strikes in the 2nd if they think he's losing a step.

Peyton has been great post-retirement.

Makes sense. I never took Brady as the mentor from afar type. He seems to feel comfortable in the dynamic as a player to his other teammates, and only that. I'd expect Manning to coach way before I'd expect Brady. Just two very different personalities in that regard.

I expect Emanwori to play and look pretty much 100% in the first half (with painkillers). The question will be second half, esp. with the long half-time....by the 4Q do the painkillers start wearing off? Even ignoring that factor, usually defenses in 4Q of SB are pretty gassed and it becomes a shootout if the game is still close.

That's bad news for the Seahawks if that injury is a high ankle sprain. We saw the same injury completely nerf Gronk in SB46 and Brady to a lesser extent in that other Giants game that shall not be named.

Pats definitely get a break here like Kam Chancellor's MCL tear in practice before XLIX.
Most twitter docs saying it's more likely a regular inversion sprain. I expect he will look pretty close to normal early on with a painkiller shot, unknown how it will look later in the game. Really just depends on his pain tolerance and severity of the sprain. There's also a higher chance of further injury but given it's the SuperBowl I doubt he cares about that factor

Both Manning and Brady are competitors, as most athletes are at that level. Brady is probably trying to stay neutral relative to his current role but to be honest, and to me, it's ok to say he want us to win in a 'in-passing' kind of way and not 'in-your-face' kind of way. How could anyone have an issue with that?

I never had a problem with Manning, he wanted to win. Brady is our guy now. Lets all just settle....

For those worried about the offense going into the SB please watch this Kurt Warner clip and know there is hope. That doesn't mean we win but shows that the Hawks defense can be had.

I am not surprised people are picking the Seahawks. I would too. They seem to be a juggernaut of a team with talent all over the field.

Patriots defense needs to get pressure and cover. Maye needs to play like yhe MVP and it still could be a battle.
