Brady is the goat but FU

Only think I can think of is there is something contractually binding him (FOX or the Raiduhs) to not publicly endorse/support an NFL team over another at a national media level (TV, social media, podcasts, etc).

Statues, retirement ceremonies, etc do not fall into this category as "rooting" as they are regional events.
Also if he openly cheers for the Pats that means he is publicly cheering against his team's new head coach on Sunday. Sorry but that's not a great look.

I'm sure the Pats understand. I'm also sure he is reaching out to them in private.

Yep. That could also be a possibility and a very likely one.

He could simply state I always have a warm spot for NE and its fans and want them to do well except against the raiders
No way kubiak gets upset about that

Not gonna name names but I see some of the SAME EXACT PEOPLE who for years crapped on us Brady fans for still following him in Tampa, people who I'll remind everyone complained so much that Ian literally banished all discussion of Brady to a different forum, are now crying their eyes out over Brady being a diplomat and not publicly rooting for the Pats. I remember the insentient "I only care about people ON the team!" bulls.hit.

And on a related note, I see on the Patriots Reddit that despite the fact that most Pats fans dumped on Asante for 15 years due to the missed pick and him bashing Belichick for years they're now cheering him on because he's tweeting crap about Brady.

You are all f.ucking limp **** losers.

Oh fer fuxsake.

The dude is a part owner of the Raiders. He just hired the Seahawks OC as his new HC. He's got a statue in Foxboro, has friends here on the staff and he's trying to (more like been told to) maintain some level perceived objectivity while he calls the game. He's gotta play it down the middle of the fairway.

Seriously, some of y'all need to not be so sensitive. Your team is in the Super Bowl. Pour yourself a beverage and celebrate. Every one of us here would have been happy just making the playoffs a year ago. Relax.

Hear hear.

I've had the same grin on my face for more than a week. The same one I get when I think of where we were for 20 years. We're in the SB AGAIN (without Tom this time) and Goodhell is ****ting bricks because he may have to give us the Lombardi trophy AGAIN.

Another winning post.

Not only did those losers cry about the Brady talk, but when Ian was nice enough to give his fans a place many came there to troll. One ******* even bragged about going there to troll our fellow Pats fans. As I remember it, the participating mod said that she had eight fans crying to her.

F them all.

If he does that can be construed as rooting. "I have a warm spot for OpenAI, says Elon Musk"

My point is CEOs and executives have those types of clauses in their employee agreements.

Say he doesn't have that in his employee agreement, he then needs to say, "I have a warm spot for the Bucs and the Raiders." He isn't going to open himself up to that criticism from those fan bases.

It is what it is. Sucks to be him but it was his choice. That you can be mad at him for.

He’s a football commentator, not Walter Cronkite.

How hard would it be for him to say, “Of course, I’m rooting for the franchise I was with for 20 years, Robert Kraft, and my teammate who helped us win three Super Bowls.”
Doesn't he own a piece of the Raiders?

I miss the days when we used to root for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Nowadays it feels like the fanbase takes any opportunity to crap on them

And is also literally hiring the current Seahawks OC to be his head coach.

"oh but I'm sure he'd understand if he said he wanted the Pats to win" uhhh would he? No contract is signed yet, it's in the Josh McDaniels getting off the plane stage of the hiring process.

Did people want Brady to come out and say "Well, I am pulling for the Patriots to win but I for sure want to see the Seahawks offense light up the scoreboard!" Yeah that would go over great...

Do Chicago Bulls fans trash Jordan because he has does literally nothing with that franchise since he left?

It seems like any discussion that has either name in it causes the radicals on both sides to square off.

I don’t think anybody’s losing any sleep over this, but come on, he obviously could have done a better job than “I don’t have a dog in the fight.”

When Larry Bird was president of basketball operations for Indiana, he didn’t hesitate to say things like "There's no sports town like Boston. I don't care where you go.”

Would’ve been an obvious play here for Brady to say something like that, again, I don’t really care but of course he could have.
I never understand why threads continue after I perfectly summarize the way everyone should feel about it.

Everyone just agree with me and then go on about your day.

People acting like he's just a retired former player, and not a team owner (who's in the process of hiring a Seahawk as his HC!) and high-profile broadcaster. He's absolutely rooting for the Pats, but he's never going to say it. Even if he wasn't, he's way past owing NE anything. Some of y'all need to grow up.

Trash, no but they would like him more involved with the team.

If he built the Hornets into a champion they'd want him for a different reason.

Same when Larry was coaching/running the Pacers. He built good teams when we sucked.

Brady the player is my favorite athlete of all time. Brady the person, I can take or leave. He never embraced Boston/New England in any way. Pathetic that he isn't pulling for the Pats, but his allegiances are elsewhere now.

Brady is going to toe the line..being minority owner, Broadcaster, and all the Contractual ties everywhere he has..I'd expect the response he gave... we know privately who Brady is rooting for!
